TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), which operates approximately 835 "TSUTAYA BOOKS" and "TSUTAYA BOOKS" stores nationwide, has announced that "TSUTAYA will change the way you encounter books. We are pleased to announce that "The Seven Murder Case" (Futabasha) will be released on June 16th as the third installment of the "Reprint Produced Bunko" project, in which TSUTAYA bookstore staff select and reprint out-of-print books based on the theme of "The Seven Murder Case."

With around 76,000 new titles released each year, many books end up getting lost in the shuffle. This "Reprint Produced Paperbacks" program was launched in February of this year with the aim of having "book connoisseur" bookstore staff at TSUTAYA stores across the country, who have the most access to books, select "truly recommended paperbacks" from among the paperbacks that are already out of print, rediscover high-quality books, and deliver them to customers.

The first volume, "Until I Meet September's Love" (Futabasha), has sold a total of 60,000 copies at TSUTAYA, with a total circulation of over 84,000 copies. The second book, Laundry (Futabasha), published in April, has also sold over 35,000 copies, making both books huge hits.
The main reasons for the significant increase in cumulative circulation are thought to be that the book was republished based on the discerning eye of bookstore staff, and that the book was sold in stores using a database of 56 million people to develop sales areas, which not only attracted existing readers but also new ones.

The third installment is the mystery novel "The Seven Murders," published in 1984. This work allows you to experience the true essence of a mystery novel, full of speed and tricks, and it has been republished with a completely renewed cover to appeal to a new readership while maintaining the worldview of the original work.

The fourth reprint of the "Reprint Produced Paperbacks" project has been scheduled for August, and thereafter, approximately six reprinted books will be made available at TSUTAYA stores nationwide each year. With this "Reprint Produced Library" as a starting point, we aim to create a store where customers can find high-quality books, where "if you go to TSUTAYA, you can find interesting books." As a project in which TSUTAYA bookstore staff from all over the country will discover and propose books, we will propose new reading experiences and moving experiences to our customers.
