- "BOOK & CAFE" provides "a place and services to connect with the local community and society"-
TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as TSUTAYA, President and CEO Kazuo Nakanishi) will open the "TSUTAYA BOOK STORE," the first of its kind in Japan to be located within a university facility, within the new Kansai University Umeda Campus (nicknamed "KANDAI Me RISE"), which will be established in Tsuruno-cho, Kita-ku, Osaka in October of this year.
By opening a store on this campus, TSUTAYA will provide a place and services where not only students and alumni, but also members of the local community and society can gather and connect.
About the Umeda Campus "TSUTAYA BOOK STORE"
The newly opened "TSUTAYA BOOK STORE" will provide a relaxing space for customers visiting the Chayamachi and Nakazakicho areas, with a "BOOK & CAFE" at its core where customers can enjoy reading while sipping coffee. The store will also sell books and miscellaneous goods and disseminate information in collaboration with the local community. In addition to selling books, stationery, and merchandise selected for business situations, the "Working CAFE" will also provide an environment specifically designed for business use, with free Wi-Fi and power outlets at the cafe seats, providing a new coworking space and community space for students and business people in the surrounding area.
The store will have multiple event spaces where a variety of experiential events will be held, including entertainment experiences such as live performances and talk shows, as well as seminars and study groups for business people.
The facility will also collaborate with the members-only cross-industry networking salon and lifelong learning floor on the upper floors of the facility, collaborating with companies based in Kansai and Osaka, and participating in and planning local events.
TSUTAYA aims to provide a place and services that connect with the local community and society, in order to realize the facility concept of Kansai University Umeda Campus, "Cultivating people who can lead, connect, inspire and create - creating a place to put "thinking and acting" into practice," through its "BOOK & CAFE."
TSUTAYA and Kansai University are also planning further collaboration, and will hold a joint press conference to discuss details around mid-July this year.
