TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi / hereinafter referred to as TSUTAYA), which operates 1,494 TSUTAYA stores nationwide, launched its "TSUTAYA for Parents and Children" summer campaign on Friday, July 15, 2016. As the second part of this campaign, which is aimed at parents and children, the company will be exhibiting at the "Summer Vacation 2016 ★ Homework Independent Research Mission" event, which will be held at three locations across the country from July 21st, leaving TSUTAYA stores.
We are preparing many events, such as a chance to experience working as a TSUTAYA staff member, and a kids' press conference where children will act as reporters, conduct interviews and create a newspaper.

This summer, TSUTAYA is proposing "A Summer Vacation to Enjoy with Parents and Children"! "As part of our summer campaign, we will be launching the 'Natsuroku' project at TSUTAYA stores nationwide from July 23rd. During the summer vacation period, we will be holding up to six in-store events per week for children of elementary school age and younger, including "Let's play with Doraemon coloring books," "Festival event," "Doraemon search," "Let's play with character coloring books!", "Rock-paper-scissors tournament," and "Picture book reading session," to help children and their families enjoy the hot summer. About "Summer Vacation 2016 ★ Homework Independent Research Project"

This summer, TSUTAYA is proposing "A Summer Vacation to Enjoy with Parents and Children"! The second installment is "Summer Vacation 2016 ★ Homework Independent Research Strategy" where you can experience work! A press conference for kids will be held to learn about "Parent-Child Day"! Enjoy the "Natsuroku" project with lots of events at TSUTAYA stores nationwide! This is an explanatory image.

Following on from last year, TSUTAYA will be exhibiting at the "Summer Vacation 2016 ★ Homework Independent Research Masterpiece" (sponsored by Japan Management Association) which will be held in three locations across the country: Tokyo, Sendai, and Osaka.
During the event, the TSUTAYA booth at the venue will have a sales area filled with Doraemon and other anime works, and will also host career experience programs such as customer service greeting practice, trying on uniforms, and creating a TSUTAYA storefront, as well as a chalk art class where customers can freely draw on TSUTAYA carrying bags.

① Become a reporter at a kids' press conference! Bruce Osborne, the man who coined the term "Parent-Child Day," will be on stage with his wife.
Bruce Osborne, known as the person who coined the term "Parent-Child Day," will answer questions from our kids' reporters about the day. After the press conference, Bruce Osborne will take a group photo.
・Event time: Friday, July 22nd, 3pm-4pm (Tokyo Big Sight East Hall 4)
・How to apply: Numbered tickets will be distributed at the TSUTAYA booth from 9:30am on the day of the event.
・Theme: Become a reporter and learn about Oyako Day! Write a newspaper article!
・Number of participants: Limited to 10 people (free)

Bruce Osborn (born 1950) Profile
A photographer from the United States. He came to Japan in 1980 and began his full-scale activities in Japan. He is famous for his life's work, the "Parent and Child" series. In 2003, together with his wife and producer Yoshiko Inoue, he proposed that the fourth Sunday of July be designated as "Parent-Child Day." The following year, the "Parent-Child Day Promotion Committee" was established, and various activities have been carried out. In 2010, he won the International Photography Awards Professional Category. We propose a day to reaffirm the basic parent-child relationship, which is equally given to all people and can exist for all.

② Try the "TSUTAYA Work Experience"!
We offer a work experience program where you will wear a TSUTAYA uniform, greet customers, and organize a sales area by arranging DVDs on shelves. This is the only place where you can experience working as a TSUTAYA staff member! (First come, first served)

3. Try drawing with the "Chalk Art Experience"! (Available only at the Tokyo venue)
This is a summer class project to help with homework, taught by professional chalk art experts and teachers. An experience corner where you can draw with art chalk on TSUTAYA's popular carrying bag. Take the finished bag to the store!
・Cost: Paid (500 yen/tax included, includes chalk and bag)
・Event period: 21st and 22nd (10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00)

④ "Homework Shopping Corner" - Find all your summer homework materials here!
The venue will also be selling books and craft kits to help with homework and independent research, as well as recommended reading for summer vacation. We will provide full support to children who are unsure what to do during their summer vacation.
