The CD rental section of TSUTAYA bookstores will stock not only CDs by the many rakugo artists featured in this issue, but also jazz works such as "Black Radio" by Robert Glasper Experiment, a genius and one of the most important figures in the contemporary jazz scene, as well as works recommended by TSUTAYA's staff who are fans of jazz and rakugo. The book and magazine section will also stock works by the late legendary jazz critic Uekusa Jinichi and this issue's "A Rakugo Theory of Rakugo, Read in One Go." We also carry books such as "Modern Rakugo Theory" by Danshun Tatekawa, published by Sanichi Shobo, which was introduced in "The Rakugo Theory of Modern Rakugo" and other books recommended by the POPEYE editorial department that did not fit into the magazine.
In addition, we will be hosting a "First Time Rakugo" course at TSUTAYA TOKYO ROOPONGI on Friday, August 26th, where you can experience a relaxing summer with "Jazz and Rakugo," with actor Ayumu Nakajima, who wrote the manuscript for this special feature titled "First Time Rakugo," as the lecturer. *See the next page for how to participate in the event.
While studying at Nihon University College of Art, he joined the Rakugo Study Group, and although he was initially hesitant about practicing, he began performing stories in front of an audience and became aware of the pleasure of Rakugo. He will talk about his experiences, as well as his favorite Rakugo artists and stories, the joy of vaudeville, and the hidden pleasure of Rakugo. The lecture will be moderated by Kowloon Joe, a freelance writer who loves rakugo. Listening to the two speakers will leave you intrigued and open to the world of rakugo. This one-night-only event will also provide an opportunity for rakugo fans to hear some fascinating stories.
