- Proposing a special experience of encountering a film as a "one and only" work -

TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and COO: Kazuo Nakanishi / hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA"), which operates 1,478 TSUTAYA stores nationwide, will begin renting the film "Room," which won the Academy Award for Best Actress at the 88th Academy Awards, exclusively at TSUTAYA stores from September 16th, and will also be streaming the film digitally on TSUTAYA TV in advance.

This film is a noteworthy work that was nominated for 194 awards and won 74 awards at film awards around the world, including the Golden Globe Awards, in addition to Brie Larson's outstanding acting and the quality of the work, and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards for Best Actress. Many celebrities who watched the film, including entertainer Moe Yamaguchi and actor and entertainer Shinobu Sakagami, left positive and moving comments.

When it was released in Japan, it received a rating of 4.1 stars (out of 5) on Filmarks, with comments such as "An unprecedented emotional experience," "I was captivated by Brie Larson's acting," and "I felt inspired after watching it" (Source: Filmarks user movie reviews), praising the actors for their brilliant performances of difficult roles, and for the hope that comes after the complicated emotions. Furthermore, it ranked first in Filmarks' "endorsed ranking," which combines the film's rating and the number of Clips! (the number of films registered by users as movies they want to watch) from among the films available for rental this month.
