TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and COO: Kazuo Nakanishi / hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA"), which operates approximately 813 bookstores nationwide, is launching a new initiative called "TSUTAYA will change the way you encounter books. With the aim of expanding the comics market and discovering new manga, we have launched a project called "Newly Produced Comics Selected by Bookstore Staff," in which bookstore staff will unearth and publish excellent works from digital comic magazines that are suitable for publication in book form. This project expands to include new comics, building on the success of the Republishing Produce Bunko project, which republished 16 titles between December 2013 and October 2016, with nine of the titles becoming hits and requiring reprints.
To find the first comic, TSUTAYA bookstore staff selected "Everyone's Screws are Loose" (Publisher: Earth Star Entertainment) from popular works currently being serialized on "GANMA!", an original new manga distribution service operated by Comicsmart Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Mitsunori Sato). The title will be released sequentially from Saturday, November 12th.
The first in the "Newly Produced Comics Selected by Bookstore Staff" series, "Everyone's Screws are Loose," is a work by Yosuke Inu, who already has many fans in the horror digital comic world. For this publication, TSUTAYA was involved in the overall production, from selecting the works to the binding and in-store sales marketing, as well as the editing. For the book version, special new writing has been added, allowing readers to enjoy the world of the work even more through the thumbnail image (1hazuneji_cover.jpg). In addition, limited-time offers and gift campaigns will be held at TSUTAYA stores.
TSUTAYA aims to regularly publish "Newly Produced Comics Selected by Bookstore Staff" in the future, aiming to create opportunities for customers to "encounter books" and have richer, more moving experiences through reading.
