TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and COO: Kazuo Nakanishi / hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA"), which operates 1,478 TSUTAYA stores nationwide, and Filmarks (operated by Tsumiki Co., Ltd. Head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Suzuki Takayuki / hereinafter referred to as "Filmarks"), Japan's largest movie review service recommended by TSUTAYA, are pleased to announce the interim results of the 71st Mainichi Film Awards "TSUTAYA x Filmarks Movie Fan Awards 2016," for which voting is being accepted on the voting site via smartphone, PC, and mobile phone until Tuesday, December 20th.

The TSUTAYA x Filmarks Movie Fan Awards is held in collaboration with the Mainichi Film Awards, one of Japan's most prestigious film awards, and selects the Japanese and foreign films that movie fans found most moving and entertaining from those released in Japan this year.

According to the interim results (as of December 6th), the winners in the foreign film category were "Zootopia" and in the Japanese film category were "Your Name."' each came in first place. For more details, please see the interim report website.

Comparing the distribution chart of votes at the time of interim tally (based on T-ID applicants) with last year, we can see that the overall voter turnout rate has increased, with a particularly notable increase among women in their 20s.

Starting this year, the voting format has been updated to allow fans to share their votes on social media along with their comments, which has led to fans sharing their votes with each other and expanding communication through movie topics. Furthermore, with the participation of Filmarks, one of the largest movie review services in Japan, the event brought together the thoughts of movie fans who regularly post movie reviews.

We are also running a campaign in which 100 people who vote and apply on the voting site will be randomly selected to receive 1,000 T-POINT. Voting will be accepted on the voting site until 23:59 on Tuesday, December 20th.

This is one of the largest movie review services in Japan, with over 20 million movie reviews recommended by TSUYATA. Based on the function that allows you to easily check and post movie reviews, it is used by many movie fans as a "movie viewing record," "memo and memorandum of movies you want to see," and "communication tool to share and enjoy movie impressions and information."
