T Point Japan Co., Ltd. launched the "T Point Donation" service in March 2010, allowing people to donate using T Points, so that presenting their T Card when shopping in their daily lives will naturally lead to support. In addition, in July 2013, Yahoo! JAPAN's "Yahoo! Online Donation" service also began accepting donations using T-Points. We are pleased to announce that the total number of T-Point donations made between January 1 and December 31, 2016, was 331,841,409 points, and the number of donations was 1,425,994.

■Total number of donation points: 331,841,409 points (equivalent to 331,841,409 yen)
■Number of donations: 1,425,994

◇ "T Point Donation": 19,736,999 points / 69,275 donations
◇Yahoo! Online Donations: 312,104,410 points / 1,356,719 donations

"T Point Donations" was launched in 2010 as a service that allows online donations starting from just one point, in response to requests from customers who wanted to use their T Points to help someone. After that, following the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011, the ability to donate with T Points became widely recognized as one of the immediate relief activities that could be carried out. In 2016, the Kumamoto earthquake disaster occurred, and the circle of support for the victims who were forced to live in evacuation shelters expanded, with many people across Japan donating T Points.

In announcing this year's annual donation point figures, we conducted a questionnaire survey on donations among 300 men and women who have donated T Points at least once in the past six years.

■ 60% of people have started donating more than before, and 80% would like to continue donating with T Points in the future
Nowadays, when natural disasters occur, the topic of fundraising is often mentioned in the news and reports. When asked whether they have donated more than before, 11.3% answered "strongly agree" and 52.3% answered "yes," indicating that people are more likely to donate. When asked whether they would like to continue donating with T-Points in the future, 18.3% answered "very much interested" and 76.0% answered "interested in participating," meaning that 90% were willing to cooperate.

■Easy ways to donate and raise funds are "point donations," "donation boxes," and "credit card payments"
As awareness of donating with T-Points is clearly growing, when asked what they thought was the easiest way to donate, the most common answer was "donating accumulated points" (86.7%), followed by "donation boxes at convenience stores and supermarkets" (42.3%), "credit card payment" (20.0%), "donating by phone" (14.3%), "street donations" (13.7%), and "bank/postal transfer" (4.7%).

The reason for donating with T-Points is because "you can donate from just 1 point"
This survey was conducted among people who have donated using T-Points. When asked to select multiple reasons why they donated using T-Points instead of cash, the most common answer was "Because I can donate from just 1 point" (62.3%), demonstrating a high demand for the ability to donate from just 1 point, rather than a lump sum such as 10 or 100 points. The next most common reasons were "Because I can make effective use of my points" (53.3%), "Because I can easily participate in fundraising even if I don't have cash" (53.3%), "Because I can donate quickly without going out" (34.3%), "Because T-Points are trustworthy" (13.0%), "Because points are a bonus you get when you shop" (12.3%), "Because it's not money I've saved myself" (12.0%), and "Because I don't have to worry about points being used for other purposes" (12.0%).

■People who donate tend to have shopping policies and shop wisely.
Finally, when asked about their approach to shopping, the most popular answers were, in order of popularity, "I won't buy a trendy item if it doesn't suit my tastes" (55.3%), "I only buy what I need" (47.9%), and "I look for value for money when shopping" (46.3%). This shows that people who donate with T Points tend to have clear shopping policies and are smart shoppers.
