TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director, President and COO: Nakanishi Kazuo / hereinafter referred to as TSUTAYA), which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, and Nextage Co., Ltd. (Head office: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture / Representative Director: Fukui Manabu), which operates the online theater viewing service "Kangeki Zanmai", will begin renting DVDs and Blu-rays of theatrical video works on the 4th floor rental floor of "SHIBUYA TSUTAYA" from Wednesday, May 3rd.

This is the first collaboration to offer a total of 267 works from 24 theater companies and 56 titles from the many theater companies registered with "Kangeki Zanmai," and is also intended to be introduced at TSUTAYA stores nationwide.

Nextage Inc. decided to collaborate with the CCC Group on services after its "Kangeki Zanmai" game won the CCC Award at the final judging session of the third phase of the CCC Group-sponsored venture collaboration and support program, the "T-VENTURE PROGRAM," held on December 1, 2016, and this marks the first step in the collaboration.

The first works to be offered include high-quality works such as "Mamagoto" (My Planet), winner of the 54th Kishida Kunio Drama Award, and "Zoya Perits' Apartment" (Time Hall), winner of the 9th Odashima Yushi Translated Drama Award, as well as works featuring actors active on television, focusing on works that can be enjoyed by those experiencing theater for the first time. The lineup caters to a variety of needs, with content ranging from friendly comedies to plays aimed at children, plays with strong musical elements, and serious dialogue-filled plays. The number of productions exceeds 267 (24 theatre companies, 56 titles), and new productions will continue to be added in the future.

Through this initiative, we will provide customers who have not had the opportunity to experience theater before with an opportunity to easily encounter theater, which has the power to move people's hearts and give them hope, at TSUTAYA stores. Additionally, for theater companies, it can be used as a promotional tool to gain brand recognition and attract more audiences to their performances.

Based on the results of this survey, we will consider measures to allow more people to enjoy theater, such as expanding to stores nationwide and offering home delivery rentals and in-store pickup through TSUTAYA DISCAS.

Nextage Co., Ltd. and TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. will continue to propose lifestyles that enrich the soul through the power of theater.

An online theater service that started in August 2013. Members can watch all registered theatrical videos online via smartphone and tablet apps or the PC website for a monthly fee of 980 yen.
The theater companies currently streaming include famous theater companies such as the 30-year-old theater group Caramel Box, Ishinha, and Kakikuu-kyaku, as well as theater companies active in small theaters around the country, regardless of their size, and are characterized by their specialization in theater. As of the end of April 2017, the number of registered works is expected to be 200 theater companies and 622 works.
In addition to providing services to audiences, such as creating opportunities for people to learn about new theater companies and visit the theater, and supporting people who cannot go to the theater due to child-rearing, elderly care, or physical reasons so that they can easily enjoy theater, the event is also part of activities to support theater companies.
