July 23rd, the fourth Sunday in July, is Parent-Child Day. "Parent-Child Day" is a commemorative day that was started by photographer Bruce Osborne with the idea that "it would be wonderful if parents and children could face each other together, and that the bond between all parents and children could be strengthened through this day."In this T Survey, in honor of Parent-Child Day, we conducted a survey on parent-child relationships and books targeting 800 men and women aged 40 to 69, including students and working adults, who have children up to their 40s.
First, we asked whether they currently have a good relationship with their children. 66.1% answered "good," and 25.6% answered "somewhat good." This shows that 90% of parents with children up to the age of 40 have a good relationship with their children. When asked whether they were currently satisfied with their relationship with their child, 53.6% answered "satisfied" and 30.4% answered "somewhat satisfied," indicating that 80% were satisfied with their relationship with their child. As children grow, the relationship between parents and children changes significantly from when they were young, but the results showed that the level of harmony and satisfaction with their children was very high.
The main books that parents listed as books they would like to give to their children are as follows:
5% of people have received books as gifts from their parents as adults
When they read the books they received, they said, "I was happy," "I learned something," and "It was useful."
The book is "a treasured keepsake" and "I've read it many times."
Next, we asked respondents whether they had ever received a book as a gift from their parents when they grew up. Only 5% answered "yes," revealing that even a generation ago, there was no custom of giving books to children as they grew up. In addition, when those who answered "I have received a book as a gift" were asked to select multiple answers about how they felt when they read the book given to them by their parents, the top answers were "I was happy," "I learned something," and "It was useful." When asked to select multiple answers about what they do with the book they received as a gift, the majority of answers were "I keep it safe" and "I read it many times."Although they do not often receive books as gifts from their parents as they grow up, it was clear that they receive their parents' feelings through the books they receive, and that they continue to cherish the books themselves.
