- "Zootopia" takes first place, with two Ghibli films making it into the top 10! -

TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. will announce the overall rental rankings for the two months of October and November for "TSUTAYA Premium," a new service that combines in-store rentals and video streaming services, which began on October 2nd.

Taking the top spot was "Zootopia," a 3D computer-animated film by Walt Disney Animation Studios that began rental in August 2016. Coming in second and fourth were "Chihayafuru: Part 1" and "Chihayafuru: Part 2," live-action adaptations of popular comics.

Additionally, the film "My Neighbor Totoro" came in 9th place and "Kiki's Delivery Service" came in 10th place, showing that Studio Ghibli films remain popular even nearly 20 years after they first became available for rental, with masterpieces that cannot be viewed on subscription video streaming services ranking in the top 10.

"TSUTAYA Premium" is a new TSUTAYA service that combines the best of both in-store and online services, offering unlimited rental of DVDs and Blu-rays (excluding new and recent releases) in stores for a monthly fee starting from 1,000 yen, with no return deadline or extension fees. It also includes access to TSUTAYA's video streaming service, "TSUTAYA TV," giving customers unlimited access to a total of approximately 100,000 video titles (average rental titles in stores: 90,000 titles, excluding new releases available for video streaming), including classic titles that have not yet been released for video streaming. (Some stores do not offer this service. Monthly fees vary depending on the store. )
