-Shimachu and TSUTAYA sign franchise agreement-

Shimachu Co., Ltd. (Head office: Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture; President and CEO: Okano Yasuaki; hereinafter referred to as Shimachu) and TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Nakanishi Kazuo; hereinafter referred to as TSUTAYA) signed a TSUTAYA franchise agreement in August 2018, aiming to utilize the strengths of both companies to create stores that are even more satisfying to customers.

Shimadachi and TSUTAYA will renovate the "Holmes Shinyamashita Store" as their first store, aiming to provide a space where people can relax like at home and discover new lifestyles, and to propose a more comfortable and colorful lifestyle centered on furniture and books.They will also open the "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shinyamashita Store" (tentative name) within the same store this winter.

TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shin-Yamashita Branch will have a BOOK & CAFE called "WIRED KITCHEN with Futaba Fruit Parlor" run by Cafe Company Inc., where customers can relax and enjoy books before purchasing them while enjoying coffee, meals, parfaits made with plenty of seasonal fruits, sandwiches, and more. What's more, the sofas and tables you relax on at BOOK&CAFE can be purchased, allowing you to create a relaxing space in your own home. The store also features a kids' space with one of the largest selections of children's books in the Yokohama area, providing an educational space where parents and children can have fun while learning, and a place that "makes life in Yokohama more enjoyable."

Shimachu currently operates 59 furniture and home improvement stores, mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Going forward, we will continue to create and provide "exciting spaces" for customers, where they can make new discoveries and encounters, and will also work to contribute to enriching people's lives by providing locally-focused products and high-quality services to realize their "I wish this existed!" wishes. TSUTAYA has also expanded its "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE" network nationwide, which is based on the BOOK & CAFE style and offers a new style of reading, evolving from a place to buy books to a place to choose them.

Shimachu and TSUTAYA aim to provide a space where people can relax like at home and discover new lifestyles, and to propose a more comfortable and colorful lifestyle centered around furniture and books.
