Nihon Bishoku Co., Ltd. / T Point Japan Co., Ltd.
Nihon Bishoku is an online service specializing in advertising, reservations, purchases, and payments for food, drink, and travel, specializing in inbound tourists. https://www.japanfoodie.jp Nihon Bishoku Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Dong Lu; hereinafter referred to as "Nihon Bishoku"), which operates the "Nihon Bishoku" app, and T Point Japan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO and COO: Kitamura Kazuhiko; hereinafter referred to as "T Point Japan"), are pleased to announce that from November 26, 2018, T Points will be available for use on the "Nihon Bishoku" app, the first smartphone payment service aimed at inbound tourists.
■Background
Japan has a low rate of cashless payments, remaining at 18.4%, while other countries around the world, including South Korea, reach 89.1% and the 40-60% range*1. In response to this situation, Japan has set a goal in its "Future Investment 2017" to increase the proportion of cashless payments to 40% by June 2027.
Furthermore, in a survey on smartphone payments conducted by Nihon Bishoku*2, the most common answer given by smartphone payment users was "I would like to use it if it is cheaper than paying with cash," revealing a high demand for incentives.
■ Overview
With the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan rapidly increasing and the number of cashless payment users expected to increase further, we will launch a T-Point service on the "Nihon Gourmet" app to make sightseeing in Japan a more convenient and affordable experience for foreign tourists. Even foreign visitors to Japan who do not have a T card can earn 1 T point for every 200 yen spent when making restaurant reservations and payments through the Nihon Bishoku app. These T points can be used at a rate of 1 point = 1 yen when making payments through the Nihon Bishoku app*3.
Nihon Bishoku and T Point Japan will continue to work towards providing a more convenient and user-friendly smartphone payment service, with an eye towards developing marketing activities that utilize consumption data from the Nihon Bishoku app.
About Nihon Bishoku Co., Ltd.
We provide multi-mobile payment services for smartphones. The service supports 15 payment brands, the most in Japan, including Alipay, a payment service for inbound tourists, and LINE Pay, offered by the LINE communication app, for domestic use, and is already used by customers in 55 countries around the world, including China. We aim to create a smartphone payment platform that unifies international and domestic payment brands.
The Japanese Gourmet App addresses the problems that tourists who come to Japan face when visiting restaurants: "I can't find it," "I can't communicate," and "I can't pay."To solve these three problems, and at the same time to solve the problems of the restaurants that receive the customers, we have developed a service in the inbound area for restaurants that includes "performance-based customer referrals, multilingual concierge reservations, advance payment, and in-store smartphone payment" functions. We operate the app "Nihon Gourmet," which connects restaurants with tourists visiting Japan.
