●How many of you plan to spend the last XX of the Heisei era alone?
Christmas: 19.5%, New Year's Eve: 12.7%, New Year's Day: 12.3%
There are only about 10 days left in this year. In recent years, it has become commonplace for people to spend time alone, and magazines that teach how to enjoy being alone, such as ``Pia for Single People Only'' and ``Walker for Single People Only'', have been released. Therefore, in order to find out how many people will be spending the last Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's of the Heisei era alone, and to find out their attitudes toward living alone, we conducted a survey on living alone in this T Survey, targeting 1,500 men and women aged 18 to 69.
When asked with whom they would spend the last Christmas of the Heisei era, the most common answer was "with family" at 61.8%, followed by "alone" at 19.5%. By gender and age, the highest percentage of people who answered "spending time alone" were men aged 18-29 at 27.3%, while the lowest percentage were women aged 18-29 at 12.9%. Next, when asked about the last New Year's Eve of the Heisei era, the most common answer was "spend with family" at 75.2%, followed by "spend alone" at 12.7%.For the last New Year's Day of the Heisei era, the most common answer was "spend with family" at 77.6%, followed by "spend alone" at 12.3%.Compared to Christmas, fewer people spend New Year's Eve and New Year's Day alone. The largest group of people who answered that they would "spend New Year's Eve and New Year's Day alone" were men aged 50 to 69, with 18.4% saying they would spend New Year's Eve alone and 17.6% saying they would spend New Year's Day alone, indicating that 20% of older men spend the New Year holidays alone.
●Do you like to act alone?
1st place: "youngest brother with an older sister" 2nd place: "eldest brother with two brothers" 3rd place: "eldest brother with a younger sister"
Next, we asked whether they like being alone. 28.9% answered "I like it very much," 59.1% answered "I like it a little," 10.8% answered "I don't like it very much," and 1.3% answered "I don't like it at all," showing that 30% of people are very supportive of "being alone."In addition, when combining the responses of "I like it very much" and "I like it a little," the results showed that 90% of people like to act alone. Looking at sibling composition, the most common responses of "like it very much" or "like it a little bit" were "youngest brother with an older sister" at 93.0%, followed by "eldest brother with a younger brother" at 91.3%, and "eldest son with a younger sister" at 91.0%. On the other hand, the responses that "I don't really like" or "I don't like at all" being alone were more common than other sibling configurations, with 19.0% being the youngest sister with an older brother, 18.2% being the middle sister, and 15.2% being the youngest brother.
●How much do you eat alone on weekdays?
Breakfast: 49.9%, Lunch: 54.4%, Dinner: 30.9%
It was found that 30% strongly support "eating alone," but when asked who they eat meals with on weekdays as a daily activity, the most common answer for breakfast was "eating alone" (49.9%), followed by "eating alone" (54.4%) for lunch and "eating with family" (59.7%) for dinner, revealing that 50% of people eat alone for breakfast and lunch. Compared to other groups, women aged 18 to 29 were more likely to "eat lunch with friends or acquaintances" and more likely to "eat dinner with a boyfriend or girlfriend or partner."
Are people who live alone popular? 80% of people are "attracted to people who like to be alone"
Next, we asked about their preference for solo activities. 80.5% of respondents said they were attracted to people who "prefer to be alone," while 19.5% said they were attracted to people who "prefer to be in groups." This shows that people overwhelmingly have a higher preference for solo activities. When looking at the results by gender, we found that a higher percentage of men were attracted to "people who prefer to be alone" compared to women, and that men have a more favorable view of women who are alone.
●Where would you not want to go alone?
1st place: "Bowling/Billiards" 2nd place: "Amusement parks/Theme parks" 3rd place: "Fine dining" 4th place: "Yakiniku restaurants" 5th place: "Traveling abroad"

Looking at these results by sibling composition, "youngest brothers with older sisters" who like to go out on their own generally have less resistance to going out alone in any place, and one in two responded that they have no qualms about going to a "yakiniku restaurant" alone. Additionally, we found that among the youngest sisters with older brothers, who tend to be less comfortable being alone than others, one in two are reluctant to go to a family restaurant alone. Also, when looking at the results by gender, men were less hesitant to go alone to ramen shops, beef bowl chains, set meal restaurants, and soba/udon restaurants compared to women.
