Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has conducted a "Pet Survey" using the online "T Survey" to survey 1,501 men and women aged 18 to 69.

People who own dogs say things like, "It's hard to leave the house for long periods of time," "I have to clean up their waste," and "I have to train them."
People who own cats say it's hard to leave the house for long periods of time, they have to clean up the cat's waste, and the room gets messy.

February 22nd has been designated as Cat Day because it is a combination of the sound a cat makes, "nyan," and the number "2," making it "nyan nyan nyan."Recently, there has been an unprecedented cat boom, and a variety of cat goods have been created. To celebrate Cat Day, we conducted a survey about pets among 1,501 men and women aged 18 to 69.
First, when asked whether they currently have a pet, 27.8% answered "yes," 40.8% answered "I have had a pet in the past but I don't currently have one," and 31.4% answered "I have never had a pet," meaning that 70% of people have had a pet at some point.

"Do you like dogs?" "Do you like cats?" If we look back into history, these questions can be said to be eternal themes, as humans have kept dogs and cats as pets since ancient times. When asked to select multiple answers about the pets they currently own, the most common answer was "dogs" (46.4%), followed by "cats" (35.2%), "fish" (12.9%), "birds" (5.0%), and "rodents" (4.8%), showing that more people own dogs than cats as pets. Looking at the results by gender, 47.3% of men preferred dogs and 25.6% preferred cats, while 45.6% of women preferred dogs and 44.2% preferred cats, showing that more women than men prefer cats. We also asked people to give their own free response about the type of pet they own, and the most common answers from people who own dogs were "toy poodle," "chihuahua," and "mixed breed."For cats, the order was "mixed breed," "American shorthair," and "Scottish fold," with "mixed breed" accounting for 60% of cat owners.

Next, people who own pets were asked to give multiple reasons for keeping them. The top answer was "as a member of the family" (49.5%), followed by "because they're cute" (47.6%), "because they're soothing" (43.3%), "because I love animals" (39.0%), and "because my family asked me to" (17.5%). Looking at the results by gender and age, the most common answer among men was "because she's cute," while 70% of women in their teens and twenties chose "as a member of the family."

●What are the problems of having a pet?
People who own dogs say things like, "It's hard to leave the house for long periods of time," "I have to clean up their waste," and "I have to train them."
People who own cats say it's hard to leave the house for long periods of time, they have to clean up the cat's waste, and the room gets messy.

Next, pet owners were asked to select multiple options to indicate what they found difficult about having a pet. Regardless of the type of pet, the most common answers were "It's difficult to leave the house for long periods of time" (48.3%), "Cleaning up their waste" (29.4%), "The room gets messy/dirty" (19.4%), "It costs money" (19.1%), and "Temperature control" (17.9%). When broken down by type of pet, those who own dogs chose "it's hard to leave the house for long periods of time" (56.7%), "cleaning up their waste" (29.4%), "training" (26.3%), "expensive" (23.7%), "healthcare is difficult" and "daily walks" (20.6%). On the other hand, those who own cats chose "it's hard to leave the house for long periods of time" (48.3%), "cleaning up their waste" (34.7%), "messy/dirty room" (29.3%), "smelly" (21.8%), "expensive" and "healthcare is difficult" (19.0%), revealing that the concerns each pet has are distinct.
