T-Point Japan Co., Ltd., Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., CCC Marketing Co., Ltd., and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy held the LPGA Tour's "T-Point x ENEOS Golf Tournament" at Ibaraki International Golf Club in Osaka for three days from Friday, March 22nd to Sunday, March 24th, 2019. From the first day of the tournament, Friday, March 22nd, through the end of the tournament on Friday, April 26th, T-Point Japan Co., Ltd., Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., CCC Marketing Co., Ltd., and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy provided live internet broadcasts and VOD distribution of all tournament matches. We are pleased to announce that the total number of views during this period was 1.44 million, and that viewers came from 71 countries, including the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Thailand, where many top professionals are active.
This time, the internet broadcasting channels have been expanded even further, and in addition to the official tournament website, it will also be streamed on the free internet television stations "AbemaTV" and "GOLF Net TV", providing an environment in which even more golf fans can enjoy the event.
Based on the concept of "SLOW & ZOOM," the event aired memorable scenes from the past six tournaments, which could be considered the history of internet coverage of this tournament, and was broadcast live for an extended period of time, from the start of the first group to the final group finishing their holes. In addition, cameras were installed on all 18 holes to allow many female golfers to watch, and the Top Tracer trajectory display system was combined with a wireless system to display the trajectory of shots at important moments on the screen. Taking advantage of the free media nature of the Internet, the content was delivered in a way that viewers could enjoy.
The commentary was provided by professional golfers Take Koyama, Yukari Baba, Kiichi Michizane, and Soushi Tajima, with commentary by Hitoshi Kobayashi, and the program covered the three days of heated competition for a total of 23 hours over three days, mixing light-hearted talk with the in-depth perspective that only professionals can offer.
This tournament was the first in the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Regular Tour to be broadcast live online in 2013, and this year marks its seventh year in the pursuit of "a new way to enjoy golf that has never been seen before."We believe we have been able to lay a solid foundation for many golf fans to think, "Live golf is fun!"
T Point Japan will continue to aim to allow many people to experience the true essence of sports - the wonderful emotion of "moving people's hearts" - and to propose a new lifestyle through sports.
Comments from the commentators of the "T Point x ENEOS Golf Tournament"
This was my second time providing online commentary, following last year, but I think this year's live broadcast was even more meaningful for the future. It allows you to watch slow-motion footage of a player's shot (swing), track the trajectory of the shot, and show the lie conditions more clearly. I think we were able to capture a lot of the footage that golf fans really wanted. I think we were able to get a lot of detailed information and useful stories that you can't hear on terrestrial TV, as well as comforting topics that will naturally make you smile.
As this is the largest-scale internet broadcast, I tried to keep in mind that I wanted it to be different from terrestrial broadcasting. Another thing I paid attention to was making sure my perspective on the swing wasn't biased. Above all, the generous and lavish use of Top Tracer made it easy for viewers to understand, and the commentary made it easier to convey the ball's trajectory along with the swing and club movement. I think it's amazing. I believe that internet broadcasting will become an indispensable part of golf in the future. I would like to continue to grow by providing commentary on various broadcasts so that viewers can enjoy the benefits that terrestrial broadcasting does not have.
This was my second time, following last year, and I mainly spoke in my role as a coach, explaining the players' techniques. I hope that my commentary will be of some help to viewers in improving their own golf. The venue for this tournament, Ibaraki International Golf Club, is a highly challenging and strategic golf course with difficult greens, and players with strong overall abilities dominated the top positions. However, Momoko Ueda's victory once again demonstrated her high level of skill in every aspect. Through this explanation, I learned a lot of things that will be very useful for my own teaching in the future. Thank you very much for explaining it to me.
The fact that this "great comeback" was broadcast online once again confirmed that it was a truly great game. The T-Point x ENEOS Golf Tournament, a pioneer in internet broadcasting, may be coming to an end this year, but it will surely have been able to convey to fans the flow of the most important part of the tournament, the "game."This tournament has produced many memorable matches in history, and you can even watch back in time via live internet broadcasts. I am truly blessed to be able to take part in Japan's professional sports broadcasting in such a groundbreaking way.
It was my first time commentating in three years, and I was surprised to see how much larger the scale of the broadcasts had become and how much higher the quality had become. Not only were we able to see the play of various players, but the 63 technical staff members all concentrated on the conversations in the broadcast booth, tracking what we wanted to see with their cameras, and playing back swings in slow motion at just the right time, making it a broadcast that really brought out the strengths of live broadcasting. It was fun chatting with the friendly commentators, and more than anything, I'm grateful to have been involved in this broadcast, which could be considered a culmination of the series. thank you very much!
