-First step: support for mini-theaters through T-Point donations-
Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda; hereinafter referred to as "CCC"), a lifestyle planning company, has launched the "Culture Support Project by CCC" to support and encourage culture in order to keep the flame of various cultures burning bright in the face of the global spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The "Culture Support Project by CCC" is an initiative that makes maximum use of the assets held by the CCC Group to support and encourage various cultural activities such as film, music, books, and art, which are important to the CCC Group, so that they will not disappear into the future. It is not easy to rekindle the flame of culture once it has been extinguished. In order to protect the culture that we at the CCC Group have shared since our founding, we will undertake this activity by organically combining the power of content, platforms, and data science.
As a first step, we will support movies. Due to movie theaters refraining from screening films, screenings of over 100 different films have been postponed or canceled. Furthermore, small movie theaters across the country, known as "mini-theaters," which have fostered film culture in their local communities over a long period of time, are now at risk of losing their operations. The CCC Group, which is deeply involved in the film industry, will begin supporting the Mini Theater Aid Fund, which aims to continue operating mini theaters, through T-POINT Donations, which allow donations of as little as 1 point, for two weeks from Friday, May 1st to Thursday, May 14th, 2020. After that, we plan to support films that have been forced to cancel or postpone their release due to cinema closures, and to carry out activities that support creators, while also promoting the appeal of film itself.

In order to keep the flame of culture alive, the CCC Group will continue to plan and announce various activities that will support and encourage culture through the "Culture Support Project by CCC."
Comments from directors Koji Fukada and Ryusuke Hamaguchi, the initiators of the Mini Theater Aid Fund.
How many TSUTAYA stores have you used in your life? Every time I moved, there was a TSUTAYA in the neighborhood. Before I knew it, T-POINT could be used at convenience stores and cafes. It's strange how movies seem to cross over into everyday life, and while it might not be a problem if you don't have T-POINT, it's nice to have them. Could you please share a little of that small happiness with the mini-theater? There was always a movie theater at the entrance where software was delivered to the video store. (Film director Koji Fukada)
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people are being asked to refrain from going out, and mini-theaters with weak financial foundations are now facing a management crisis. I think that many people who have TSUTAYA T-CARDs are inevitably movie lovers. For example, if possible, we would like you to use the T-POINT you have accumulated from renting movies to support mini-theaters. This will help preserve the richness of film. Thank you very much. (Film director: Ryusuke Hamaguchi)
