-The new Wakayama City Library will be a hub for knowledge, information, interaction, and relaxation-
Wakayama City (Mayor: Masahiro Obana, hereinafter referred to as "Wakayama City") will open the "Wakayama City Library" in front of Nankai Electric Railway Wakayamashi Station on Friday, June 5, 2020. Through our partnership with Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter referred to as "CCC"), we aim to create a comfortable space for the citizens of Wakayama where they can gain knowledge, experience, and new values.
The new Wakayama City Library will be a hub for knowledge, information, interaction, and relaxation, and will be open 365 days a year, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
<10 Features of Wakayama City Library>
1) This library is adjacent to Nankai Electric Railway Wakayamashi Station. Each floor from the first to the fifth has its own unique space, so you can find a place that suits you.
2) The library has approximately 500,000 books. The number of books on the open shelves, which was approximately 150,000 before the renovation, will be increased to approximately 300,000 books, making them available to the public.
3) The library is open 365 days a year. Opening hours are from 9am to 9pm.
4) The seating capacity is approximately 670. It can be used by each and every citizen as a place for communication, a place to improve oneself, and a place to relax.
5) The venue is fully equipped with Wi-Fi and approximately 130 seats with power outlets are available.
6) There is a separate children's library on the fourth floor, providing a space where children can have fun without worrying about anything. In a fun space called "Picture Book Mountain," children are greeted by artwork depicting a large Nagi tree.
7) There will be a Starbucks on the first floor. You can enjoy books from the library or bookstore while drinking the coffee you purchased.
8) The Tsutaya Bookstore, which stocks not only magazines and the latest books, but also stationery, miscellaneous goods, and carefully selected Wakayama specialties, complements the library.
9) We will set up a counter that can collect and provide tourist information on Wakayama's culture, outings, food, etc., and will also be able to accommodate visitors from overseas.
10) On the rooftop, there is a grassy plaza equipped with terrace seating and a rooftop kitchen, which will be a place of relaxation for residents. Families can relax and enjoy watching their children running around.
