TSUTAYA BOOKS Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA BOOKS") and its subsidiary Tsutaya Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have signed a franchise agreement with Tokuya New Bookstore (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., and opened the first "TSUTAYA BOOKS" in China, "Hangzhou Tenmuri TSUTAYA BOOKS," on October 18th.

The first store in China, Hangzhou Tenmuri TSUTAYA BOOKS, will be located on the first and basement floors of Tenmuri, a commercial facility that opened on the same day in Hangzhou, one of China's eight ancient capitals and famous as the city where IT giant Alibaba is headquartered.

Tenmokuri was designed by Renzo Piano, a leading Italian architect who also designed the Pompidou Centre and the Kansai International Airport Passenger Terminal. The vast 230,000 square meter site is home to a shopping area, museums, museum shops, office buildings, restaurants, and more.

Within this, Hangzhou Tenmuri TSUTAYA BOOKS aims to be the "best intellectual haven" through proposals in a variety of genres, including art, food, fashion, architectural interiors, literature, work styles, design, and travel, based on the concept of being "the most creatively stimulating cultural hub in Hangzhou."
