The first series was launched in July 2020, and the second series, a collaboration with a contemporary Japanese artist, was released in October. Art Mask at Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore This mask was designed and created by the concierge at Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore in collaboration with artisans and textile designers of Edo Komon, Nishijin-ori, and Hakata-ori textiles, in pursuit of traditional Japanese techniques and beauty.
This mask is made with Edo Komon fabric produced by Hirose Dyeing Factory, which has been dyeing Edo Komon in Tokyo for over 100 years. Edo Komon is a pattern that was used on the kamishimo worn by samurai during the Edo period, and is dyed by dyers using stencils hand-carved by artisans in Ise. Each piece is unique as it is made from scraps of fabric from the tailoring of high-quality kimonos. We offer genuine silk masks at reasonable prices. 3,800 yen *Includes a pocket for inserting a mask filter (filter sold separately)

It is made from Hakata-ori fabric, a traditional craft of Fukuoka Prefecture with a history of over 770 years. The outer fabric is woven with a pattern on a jacquard loom, with the left and right sides giving different impressions, and the lining is made of the extremely precious "Hakata raw silk," which is characterized by its smooth feel when worn. The main raw material, silk, is also known as the "Queen of Fibers," and is known for its excellent moisture absorption and release properties, preventing stuffiness, and for its UV protection, deodorizing, and antioxidant properties. It is made from animal protein fiber that is gentle on the human body. 2,700 yen
A long-established manufacturer of Nishijin-ori, a traditional Kyoto craft, has created high-quality Nishijin-ori masks. The mask features an original design created exclusively for Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore's ART MASK. This is a stylish mask that will be the focal point of your outfit. The lining is made of sportswear fabric that is moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and UV-resistant. The unique three-dimensional stitching makes it less likely to stick to your mouth or nose, making it extremely comfortable to wear. 3,200 yen
