Grand Prize - Elementary school and younger category -
・TO: Grandpa, Grandma
・FROM: Naomi
・Thoughts behind the work: These are the handprints of my two sons, ages 0 and 3. I only get to see my grandparents who live far away once a year. I haven't met him yet this year. I created this with the hope that by attaching a card with a photo, I could share even a little bit of my child's growth. The picture is of a round and peeled banana. lol
-Message from Tsuchiya Tao: Although there are only six years in your life when you are younger than elementary school age, I believe this is the time when you grow the most both physically and mentally. I chose this design because I thought it symbolized that growth. You mentioned that you have two sons, ages 0 and 3, but I'm also three years younger than my sister. But now that I've grown, my hands haven't changed in size. It's heartwarming to see the difference in the size of handprints that only comes from being young. I also think it's wonderful that it includes the thoughts of three generations of a family. My mother also said, "Kids love to draw circles. I've heard that, and when I look at the drawings that remain at home, I see that there are a lot of circles in drawings made by babies through to kindergarteners. When I saw the circle in this picture, I was reminded of that story and felt nostalgic.
Grand Prize - Junior High School and High School Division -
・TO: To my future self
・FROM: Mar-chan
- Thoughts behind the work: When I was in elementary school, my dream was to become a violinist, and now that I'm in high school, I'm working hard to achieve that dream.
- Message from Tsuchiya Tao: I think this painting is a print, but I think there are aspects of prints that you can't fully understand or calculate until you see the finished product. But if you do your best, you can make the most of all the unexpected events and twists and turns and create a wonderful personality. I chose this song because I was attracted to its lively charm, which makes me feel like dreams are like that, and its dynamism, which makes me feel like I can hear the music.
Grand Prize - Adult Category -
・TO: To yourself
・FROM: Shibao
・Thoughts behind the work: To myself, who started chasing my dreams later than others. People often asked me, "Are you going to become an illustrator at this age?" But looking back six years later, I think I've worked really hard to be able to make a living from drawing. I created this picture with the hope that one day this whale will be depicted on the body of a SPACE X aircraft.
- Message from Tsuchiya Tao: I was really drawn to all the candidates and it was hard to choose, but this piece has an exciting quality despite its simple use of colors. When I thought about why this was, I realized that the sky and the sea are connected everywhere in the world, and that they are both blue. This painting looks like it's both under the sea and in the sky (space). White is the color of snow and clouds. Especially in the midst of the difficult situation we have been facing in 2020, the design is reminiscent of space and the Earth (the world), and the whale, the largest mammal on earth that lives in the sea, swims leisurely within it, creating a sense of soft freedom that is hard to describe. One of the messages contained in the work is that "I started chasing my dreams later than most people," and I think it took a lot of courage to take that first step. May this step lead to a brighter future.
T Point Japan will continue to strive to ensure that T Points and T Cards "connect people and society" and will continue to work to create new social value.
