First, we conducted a survey on how much time people spend each day with their pet cats (playing, caring for them, cleaning them, feeding them, etc.). The results showed that the most common answer for men was "30 minutes to less than 1 hour" at 32%, while the most common answer for women was "1 hour to less than 3 hours" at 33%. Additionally, 6% of women answered "more than 5 hours," indicating that they spend much of their time playing with and caring for their cats.
Overall, women seem to spend slightly more time with cats per day than men. Another characteristic of cat lovers is that the proportion of people who spend long periods of time with cats, "more than three hours," is relatively higher among women.
What are the best and most enjoyable things about owning a cat? TOP 3

Women: 1st place: "He's soothing," 2nd place: "He's just so cute," 3rd place: "He's affectionate and snuggles with me"
Next, we will look at 11 categories (※1) and rate them on a 5-point scale regarding "the good things and things that made you happy about having a pet."The results showed that among those who answered "I think so" or "I kind of think so," the top answers for both men and women were "They're soothing" (men: 89% / women: 96%), "They're just so cute" (men: 86% / women: 95%), and "They act cute and are there for me" (men: 88% / women: 93%). In addition, when asked if they "can work hard," the percentage of people who answered "I think so" or "I kind of think so" was 36% for men and 57% for women.
The best thing about having a cat seems to be their overwhelming cuteness and the comforting effect they provide. Additionally, more than one in three men and more than one in two women say that cats increase their motivation at work, suggesting that the "soothing effect" of cats may have the power to absorb the stress of the workplace or school.
*1: They cling to you and snuggle with you / They eat treats from your hand / They soothe you / They get likes on social media / They sleep with you / They play with you / They make you smile / They comfort you / They help you work hard / They're just so cute / They don't need to be walked
What kind of existence are cats? Are they family members, lovers, gods...?
・I think they are a part of the family: Men_94% / Women_98%
・I think they are my lover: Men_24% / Women_35%
・They think they are close to God: Men 17% / Women 33%
Furthermore, when asked about their thoughts and feelings about cats, a very high percentage of people (94% of men and 98% of women) answered that they "think so" or "somewhat think so" about cats as "a member of the family."In addition, when asked about a "lover," 24% of men and 35% of women answered "I think so" or "I kind of think so." Furthermore, when asked about a "being close to God," 17% of men and 33% of women answered "I think so" or "I kind of think so."
It appears that the majority of both men and women love their cats as "members of the family."Among them, it was found that there are a certain number of people, both men and women, who think of cats as "lovers" or "beings close to God."As pets become more and more prominent in our daily lives, cats seem to have an overwhelming presence that transcends the boundaries of family and has become the object of love and even worship.
How has your lifestyle changed since living with a cat?
Men: 1st place "Watching videos and pictures of cats," 2nd place "Less frequent overnight stays," 3rd place "Clean more frequently"
Women: 1st place "Watching videos and pictures of cats," 2nd place "Increasing family communication," 3rd place "Cleaning frequently"
Finally, we conducted a survey on 14 items (※2) about "How has your lifestyle changed since living with a cat?"The top three reasons with the highest percentage of men who answered "I think so" or "I kind of think so" were, 1st, "I've started watching more videos and pictures of cats" (63%), 2nd, "I've taken fewer overnight trips" (53%), and 3rd, "I've started cleaning more frequently" (52%). On the other hand, for women, the top answer was "I've started watching more videos and pictures of cats" (78%), followed by "I've started communicating more with my family" (66%) and "I clean more frequently" (65%).
For both men and women, owning a cat increases their frequency of exposure to cat-related media, which in turn increases their sensitivity to information about cats. In addition, as there are more opportunities to clean, such as removing hairballs and loose hair, it seems that children will develop the habit of keeping their rooms clean regularly.
Additionally, men are staying out less frequently, which suggests that their lifestyles are adapting to accommodate their pet cats. On the other hand, for women, owning a cat increases communication between family members, suggesting that cats play a major role in stimulating communication.
*2: Cleaning has become more frequent / Cat-themed or character goods have increased / People have started looking at cat images and videos more often / People have posted more about cats on social media / People have eaten more meals at home / People have communicated more with their family / People have made friends through their cats / People have come home earlier / People have taken fewer overnight trips / People have bought new furniture etc. / People have become earlier risers / People have become healthier / People have had more trouble with neighbors / People feel less lonely
This survey revealed that having a pet cat has a significant impact on the lifestyle of its owner. Furthermore, their presence has reached a level that goes beyond that of a "family" or even a family, reaching a kind of deity level. Since the dawn of history, cats have coexisted with humans, eliminating mice and rats, but in today's uncertain times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their cuteness may be helping to alleviate anxiety from people's daily lives.
