Tsutaya Bookstore Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tsutaya Bookstore") and its subsidiary Tsutaya Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have signed a franchise agreement with Xi'an Maiqi Book Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and opened the "Xi'an Maiqi Center Tsutaya Bookstore" on March 27th, the third Tsutaya Bookstore in China and the first in Xi'an.

The third store in China, Xi'an Maike Center Tsutaya Bookstore, was opened in the high-tech zone of Xi'an, a special economic zone in the historical city of Xi'an, which is still undergoing development. The store was opened by renovating the first and second floors of the MaiKe Center, a business and commercial building adjacent to a luxury hotel.
Xi'an Maike Center Tsutaya Bookstore aims to be a place where new ideas are born, proposing lifestyles that go beyond work styles through items that stimulate new discoveries and sensibilities, supporting busy working customers and their families both on and off the job.
(1) Trends & Solutions
The first floor is themed around "Trend & Solution," and not only can you get in touch with the latest information and trends through books and miscellaneous goods, but it also offers a product lineup that embodies the idea of "learning from the past to learn the new" through historical books on China and the world, with a focus on Xi'an. We aim to be a place that proposes new work styles and leads to problem-solving. We also have a "CAFE STAND" that serves a cup of coffee to help you switch between working and relaxing.
CONTACT, the shared office space's second in China after Shanghai, will provide opportunities to connect businessmen and creators from both inside and outside Xi'an through community managers and events. In front of the CONTACT entrance, Tsutaya Bookstore staff will set up a bookshelf with a selection of recommended books for customers, offering suggestions that will stimulate creativity and generate ideas.
(2) Imagination & Inspiration
The second floor is themed around "Imagination & Inspiration" and is primarily stocked with books that stimulate creativity and generate inspiration in areas such as art and design, as well as items selected from the perspectives of "first-class refinement" and "stylish everyday life."The store will also feature the first KIDS space in a Tsutaya bookstore in China, providing a place where parents and children can spend time together and develop their creativity for the future.
At Xi'an Maike Center Tsutaya Bookstore, we pursue the "comfort" that comes from the intersection of space, scenery, people, and functionality. In this comfortable space, we offer a selection of books and miscellaneous goods aimed at Xi'an's intellectually inclined customers, proposing a "lifestyle you'll want."
(3) There are many products that can only be purchased at Tsutaya Bookstore
We have a selection of limited-edition products that can only be purchased at Tsutaya Bookstore, such as the rain boot brand RAINFUBS, which can be worn like leather shoes and will make gloomy rainy days more enjoyable from the feet up, and glass pens from Glass Studio TooS, which are produced in limited quantities using glassblowing techniques.
To commemorate the opening, Xi'an Maike Tsutaya Bookstore will also be selling exclusive tote bags featuring the cityscape of Xi'an.
(4) Hosting events that can only be experienced in real life
To commemorate the opening, we will be exhibiting works by Takashi Murakami and Mr. on the theme of "Japan Pop Culture" in the gallery space on the first floor. We plan to continue holding events that can only be enjoyed in a physical store, such as art exhibitions in the gallery, talk shows by authors and editors, picture book readings, and experiential workshops.
Tsutaya Bookstore will continue to inspire the creativity of people in Japan and China, and aim to become a special place loved by many by offering new reading styles and exciting experiences.
