T-Money Corporation (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuhiko Kitamura), a group company of Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (CCC), a planning company that proposes new lifestyles, is pleased to announce that starting today, T-Money, the electronic money service used by 70 million people, will begin accepting Apple Pay.

"T Money" is electronic money that can be used by loading cash onto a T Card/Mobile T Card. With this initiative, by setting up T Money as Apple Pay on the T Point app, users will be able to use their iPhone or Apple Watch to make payments at 1.24 million iD terminals and Mastercard® Contactless terminals installed in supermarkets, convenience stores, drugstores, shopping malls, restaurants, electronics retailers and other stores nationwide, as well as many apps and websites, and also earn T Points. T Points accumulated based on the payment amount can be used at T Point partner stores and services nationwide, starting from 1 point, and can also be used to top up T Money.

The set "T Money" will be added to the Wallet app. To use the service, simply press the home button on an iPhone with Touch ID, or double-click and hold the side button on an iPhone or Apple Watch with Face ID, and you can make safe, easy, and speedy T Money payments without having to touch the payment terminal to enter your PIN or exchange bills or coins.

As the COVID-19 pandemic pushes for a "new normal," T Money will accelerate its mobile shift strategy, enabling its 70 million T members to shop safely and enjoyably, and offering lifestyle suggestions that will make their daily lives even smarter.

Overview of "T Money" "Apple Pay" compatible services

■Available stores: 1.24 million stores with "iD" and stores with "Mastercard® Contactless"

■How to set up:
1. Tap "T Money and Pay" in the "T Point" app
2. Check the "Service" details and tap "Next"
3. Tap "Start procedure."Verify your phone number.
4. Enter your "Member Information", check the terms and conditions, and tap "Agree to the terms and conditions and continue".
5. Check your "Member Information" and tap "Register"
6. On the "Apple Pay" information screen, tap "Set up with Apple Pay."
7. Add a card to Apple Pay
8. You can set it as the main card in the Wallet app.
9. When the message "Setup complete" is displayed, the process is complete. You can pay with Apple Pay right away.

*You can use this service by updating to the latest version of the "T Point" app (3.4.0 or higher) from the App Store.

How to charge T-Money:
1. Top up with cash at T-Money member stores
2. Auto-charge and credit charge by credit card
3. Charge with T Points
4. Charge with Paidy deferred payment
■ Charge amount: In 1,000 yen increments up to a maximum balance of 30,000 yen
■Available amount: 1 yen to 30,000 yen
■ T-Points: 1 T-Point will be awarded for every 500 yen (tax included) spent on T-Money in a month

[What is Apple Pay?]
Security and privacy are fundamental elements of Apple Pay. Even if you set up Apple Pay on your iPhone or other device, your credit card number will not be stored on your device or on Apple's servers. Your device will be issued a unique number that is encrypted and stored securely in a secure area within the device. When you use Apple Pay, your credit card number is not disclosed to participating stores.
In-store payments are supported with iPhone 7 or later and Apple Watch Series 2 or later, and can be used at approximately 1.24 million iD™ affiliated stores nationwide, including convenience stores, supermarkets, drugstores, and large theme parks.
You can also use Apple Pay for online payments in apps and on the web. Payment can be completed simply by entering Touch ID, Face ID or your passcode. This eliminates the need to enter your shipping address, contact details or credit card number each time you shop, making payment quick and easy. At the same time, your card number is not revealed to the merchant, making it extremely secure and protecting your privacy.
