At the awards ceremony, we will announce the top 10 winning works selected by readers' Twitter votes, as well as the Grand Prize winner. Additionally, three new awards will be announced: the "TSUTAYA Premium Award," which selects works that readers would like to see if they were made into live-action dramas; the "comicspace Award," which selects works with high enthusiasm based on comicspace users' reviews, ratings, and popularity; and the "BookLive Award," which selects works that are particularly popular among BookLive readers.
The guests will be the comedy duo "New York," a rising star in the world of manga-loving comedians who are widely acclaimed as the No. 1 breakout comedian of 2021, and two NSC classmates from "Okazu Club," who will be making their second guest appearance following last year's "4th Everyone's Choice TSUTAYA Comic Awards" award ceremony. They will liven up the award ceremony by sharing their thoughts on the winning works and talking about the comics they are currently interested in.
Comments from guests at the awards ceremony
New York, Yashiki Hiromasa
"I love manga and I usually read a variety of works regardless of genre, so I'm looking forward to seeing if my favorite works make the list!
I'm also excited to discover new works that I haven't read yet! It's just the best job ever!"
Kazuya Shimasa from New York
"I can't thank the manga artists who continue to draw while silently coming up with interesting stories every day, even while being pressed for deadlines! I have the utmost respect for them! Thank you so much! I'm just a layman, but I'm looking forward to discovering some interesting manga on the day!"
Okazu Club Ocarina
"I am very happy to be involved in the TSUTAYA Comic Awards ceremony again this year, as I was last year. Manga has made my life better and has become an essential part of it.
I'm really looking forward to this event where I can learn about manga that I don't know yet. "
Okazu Club Yui P
"I'm so happy to be able to participate again this year!
I think what's interesting about manga is that what you want to read changes depending on your mood and environment at the time, and even the way you perceive the same work changes as you get older! Recently, Okarina and I got into a lively debate about Yuki and Kyo from Fruits Basket!
What is the "TSUTAYA Comic Awards chosen by everyone"?
Continuing since 2016, this is the only manga award in Japan that determines the next big hit, the "next breakout," comic work solely through reader votes. The purpose is to suggest new recommendations from readers to readers. This manga award allows you to find out about upcoming and noteworthy works early on through recommendations from comic fans, with many works gaining popularity after winning the Grand Prize at this award, such as "Jujutsu Kaisen" (2019 Grand Prize winner) and "SPY×FAMILY" (2020 Grand Prize winner), which are currently becoming social phenomena.
