CCC Marketing Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kazuhiko Kitamura) and T-Point Japan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Hiroaki Nagashima) have launched the "School General Election Project" (), a social project that connects the younger generation, from junior high and high school students to those in their 20s, who will be the future of the country, with politics and society. https://youthvote.tsite.jp/) and its mission is to convey the voices of the younger generation to the world and create opportunities for social change.

As part of the School General Election Project, we asked people to vote online from Friday, June 25th to Sunday, July 11th, 2021, to select their "most popular political party," and received 4,523 votes from people aged 10 to 29 across the country. As a result, over 50% of young people voted for the Liberal Democratic Party (50.8%), citing the reason as "I want them to continue to do their utmost to prevent the spread of COVID-19."Things could get complicated if the government changes midway. "Even in the unprecedented situation of COVID-19, the country is running smoothly. There has been criticism, but it seems to be going well. "They're better than other parties, but expectations are low," he said. The next most popular choice among young people was the Constitutional Democratic Party (9.2%), with the reason given being that "they are the largest opposition party."Recently, he has also been putting forward counterproposals frequently." "I agree with his views on optional separate surnames for married couples and the rights of same-sex partners.""I feel like I'm doing politics for the future."Next were the Japan Restoration Party (7.5%), the Democratic Party for the People (7.1%), the Komeito Party (5.3%), the Reiwa Shinsengumi (4.5%), the Japanese Communist Party (3.6%), the Party to Protect the People from Old Parties (2.3%), and the Social Democratic Party (1.0%), with "other political parties" accounting for 8.7%.

In addition, when comparing the results with the "Poll on Political Parties and Prime Ministers" (※1) conducted in October 2020, immediately after the Suga Cabinet was formed, the Liberal Democratic Party fell 13.6 points from 64.4% to 50.8%, the Constitutional Democratic Party increased 2.4 points from 6.8% to 9.2%, the Japan Innovation Party increased 1.6 points from 5.9% to 7.5%, and the Democratic Party for the People increased 2.3 points from 4.8% to 7.1%. Additionally, many young people chose "other parties" because they felt there was no political party they could count on, and this increased by 5.1 points from 3.6% to 8.7%, more than double the vote share from the previous election. It appears that younger generations have lower expectations for politics than they did last year.

Comment from Hiroki Ishii, project leader of the "School General Election Project"
We believe that this vote was the result of a mixture of the younger generation's mindset of "not judging parties solely on policy results" and their dissatisfaction with the current situation, which leads them to feel that "no party can be expected to do anything."
Although they are not necessarily satisfied with the current government's response to the coronavirus pandemic, they do give it a certain amount of credit as a response to an unprecedented situation, and they also take into consideration the risks of a change of government in an unpredictable situation, suggesting that young people are calmly and objectively looking at the situation.
On the other hand, the increase in the number of people who "cannot find a political party they can count on" and those who "made a passive choice," including voting for the LDP, is something that should be noted as a current political issue.

Through the "School General Election Project," CCC Marketing and T-Point Japan aim to foster "global citizenship" among young people, enabling them to proactively engage in, make decisions about, and take action on social issues, leading to the achievement of SDG Goal 4: "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all."With our group mission of "UNIQUE DATA, SMALL HAPPY," we aim for "T" to be a presence that "connects people and society," and we will continue to work to create new social value.

<"School General Election" service overview>
・Project name: School General Election Project
・Project site:https://youthvote.tsite.jp/
・Project start date: Tuesday, October 13, 2020
・Project details: The "School General Election Project" is based on CCC's founding intention of "providing a base for providing young people with information on new lifestyles," and is a "place" where young people who will be responsible for the future can co-create new discoveries and ideas that will serve as the foundation for living in the future. Aimed at the younger generation, from junior high and high school students to those in their 20s, we will raise themes related to issues affecting the future generation of young people from a wide range of areas, from politics and social issues to higher education and school, and provide neutral information on the issues raised and a forum for deeper dialogue among people of the same generation. By actually "voting" on the website, we will create an opportunity for each junior and senior high school student to take an active role and express their opinions. We also plan to publish articles on note reporting on the voting results that compile the "voices" of junior and senior high school students, as well as interviews with experts, and provide a forum for planning and holding dialogue with opinion leaders.
