Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. Tsutaya Bookstore Company and its subsidiary Tsutaya Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have signed a franchise agreement with Xi'an Maiqi Book Culture Communication Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch, and opened the Shanghai Qiantan Taikoo Li Tsutaya Bookstore on November 12th, their fourth Tsutaya Bookstore in China and their second in Shanghai.
The second Shanghai store, "Shanghai Qiantan Taikoo Li Tsutaya Bookstore," is located on the fourth floor of "Qiantan Taikoo Li," a commercial facility that opened in the rapidly developing Pudong New Area with a total floor area of approximately 120,000 m2. The theme of the facility is "Wellness."For guests who live active lives in the city, a 450m running course has been set up on the rooftop fourth floor.
The Shanghai Qiantan Taikoo Li Tsutaya Bookstore is based on the concept of a "Wellness Community," based on the idea that new inspiration and creativity are born from a healthy state of balance between mind and body. By proposing lifestyle content that delights both the mind and body, we aim to be a place that inspires customers to aspire to live a richer life.

1) A "wellness" space filled with light
At Shanghai Qiantan Taikoo Li Tsutaya Bookstore, we pursue the "comfort" that is born from the intersection of the best aspects of space, scenery, people, and functionality. Taking advantage of the windows and openings that are unique to the rooftop floor, the store is filled with soft light, allowing you to enjoy books and magazines before purchasing them while enjoying coffee or a drink.
The CAFE STAND, located in the center of the store, serves a variety of drinks, including specially blended coffee made with carefully selected beans and matcha drinks made with "Otaka Yuuki Tea," which is picked only once a year at one of China's leading high-quality Japanese tea plantations, along with light snacks such as sandwiches. Whether you want to relax or switch off before work, we have a cup of coffee ready to help you refresh your mind before and after coming to Tsutaya Bookstore.
2) "Health & Beauty": A tenant-focused lifestyle proposal centered on food and beauty
Based on the concept of "Shanghai Qiantan Taikoo Li Tsutaya Bookstore," the store has four themes: "Feel," "Think," "Health," and "Beauty."With a particular focus on the food and beauty genres, the store will offer not only books and stationery goods, but also a comfortable space that blends in with the tenants to propose an "aspirational lifestyle" for Shanghai's intellectually-savvy customers.
3) A selection of exclusive products that can only be purchased here
"KUMA Kengo WOOD - Materiality of Architecture," an extra-large photo book by architect Kengo Kuma, featuring 39 of his works, including the National Stadium, which was the main venue for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, will be sold exclusively at Tsutaya Bookstore in China.
Additionally, the store will be selling products that can only be found here, such as a mini rock glass made by Nemoto Yukinori, the third generation owner of Nemoto Glass Crafts in Tokyo, limited to Tsutaya Bookstores in China; "The Cat that Brings Beauty" - a store-exclusive product of "Edo Kimekomi Dolls," a company that has been around for over 250 years; and "Book & Cafe Socks," an original store product made in Japan.
4) Hosting events that can only be experienced in real life
We plan to hold events that can only be enjoyed in a physical store, such as talk shows with artists, writers, and editors, and experiential workshops.
At the time of opening, Alex Katz's new 2021 "Flower" series, which is themed around "Wellness," will be on display, as well as a pop-up display for Shiseido's skincare brand "BAUM."(Development period: 11/12-12/26)
