■ Third-party allotment of new shares to underwriters (in alphabetical order)
・KADOKAWA Corporation
・Kodansha Co., Ltd.
・Shueisha Inc.
・Poplar Publishing Co., Ltd.
■Background of the third-party allotment
Catalyst's slogan is "Open data change the world," and since August 2021, it has expanded its business scope with the aim of using open data to support "individual lifestyles," "corporate decision-making," and "social sustainability."
First of all, in a publishing industry facing structural challenges, we are working to solve these problems and promote the use of data in new businesses by lawfully and appropriately linking and openly sharing data between publishers, bookstores, and distributors.
We have received support for this initiative and will now be carrying out a third-party allocation of new shares to four new companies as partners working together to innovate the industry structure.
New service "CANTERA" to be launched in spring 2022
Catalyst plans to launch a new service called "CANTERA" in spring 2022, which unifies the services of "DB Watch" (*1), a book purchasing data analysis service currently provided by Catalyst, and "WIN" (*2), an open network market information disclosure system for publishers provided by Nippon Shuppan Hanbai Co., Ltd.
By centralizing the purchasing data from "DB Watch" and the distribution and sales data from the open network "WIN," we aim to improve the accuracy of the data, thereby contributing to overall industry profits by reducing the return rate based on more accurate book demand forecasts.
In addition, we aim to promote legal and appropriate data collaboration with more publishers, bookstores, and distributors, and by openly co-creating data across industries, we will create better connections between readers and books, and jointly create customer value.
