This award is a project co-sponsored by TSUTAYA and Subarusha, a general publishing company that publishes a wide variety of books including business, practical life, parenting, and essays, with the aim of "discovering future best-selling business book authors who are lurking in the background."
The executive producer of this project will be Shigehisa Nagamatsu, whose book "90% of a person's personality is determined by how they speak" has sold a total of 900,000 copies and was the number one best-seller of 2021 (according to Nihon Honpo). The winning work will be guaranteed to be published as a book by Subarusha, with full cooperation from Nagamatsu, including editorial guidance and sales production. In addition, TSUTAYA will support the debut of new authors by selling the books in prime locations in TSUTAYA stores (excluding some stores).
In addition, to coincide with the Japan Business Book Newcomer Award, a seminar will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, with Nagamatsu as the lecturer: "How to Make Your Dreams of Writing a Book Come True, as Taught by Japan's No. 1 Bestselling Author" (Tokyo venue/online streaming included).
Aimed at those who want to write a book, Nagamatsu will share his experiences and give advice on writing a book in a seminar format. For details on how to participate, please see the seminar website (https://onl.tw/aAwqZCd) for more information.
With this project as a catalyst, TSUTAYA and Subarusha will work under the philosophy of "creators first" to produce business book authors with ideas and content that will enrich people's lives in the future, and to create works that will lead to self-improvement and the discovery of new lifestyles for readers.
