The first and second places at the Japan Film Awards went to "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning," the two-part final chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin series, which were released consecutively on Friday, April 23rd and Friday, June 4th, 2021. This series is a live-action adaptation of the popular comic by Watsuki Nobuhiro that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The first film, Rurouni Kenshin, was released in 2012, and the three previous films, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, have all been huge hits.

Originally scheduled for release in July 2020, the film was forced to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as this is the final chapter in the series, the two award-winning films attracted a great deal of attention. In third place is "Hinomaru Soul," starring Tanaka Kei and based on the true story of the Nagano Olympic ski jumping team. In fourth place is "To Those Who Were Not Protected," starring Sato Takeru, who also played the lead role in the first and second place films. In tenth place is "Drive My Car," which became the first Japanese film to win the Best Original Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival, has won numerous awards both at home and abroad, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Non-English Language Film, and was nominated in 10 categories at the 76th Mainichi Film Awards.
In the "Foreign Film" category, "No Time to Die," the 25th film in the "James Bond" series and the final film in the series starring Daniel Craig as the sixth James Bond, took first place. Danny Boyle was originally set to direct the film, but he dropped out, so Cary Joji Fukunaga was appointed as the first American director in the series, which also attracted attention. Coming in second place is "2gether THE MOVIE," the film version of the TV drama "2gether," which sparked a trend in Thai dramas and depicts a fake love story set in a university. After being distributed worldwide on YouTube, it has been viewed more than 800 million times.

He enters a new era and vows never to kill anyone again. However, one day, Tokyo is attacked by someone, and one by one, Kenshin's loved ones are attacked, and he is gradually cornered. Appearing before him, completely exhausted, is Yukishiro Enishi, the head of the Shanghai mafia who had sent weapons and warships to Shishio Makoto. He knows the mystery of Kenshin's cross-shaped scar and is the most terrifying and terrible enemy that Kenshin himself has created. He holds a deep grudge against Kenshin and plans to carry out a "jinchu" (punishment) to destroy not only Kenshin but also the "new era" that Kenshin created! Why? And for what purpose? Kenshin, realizing everything, gathers Kaoru and his friends together and begins to explain, "It's all my fault."This is closely related to Kenshin's past and leads to the mystery of the cross-shaped scar that never goes away. This leads to "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final Chapter The Beginning," which delves into the mystery of the cross-shaped scar, which has never before been revealed. The story spans two eras: the turbulent end of the Edo period and the new era after the Meiji Restoration! The greatest climax in the history of "Rurouni Kenshin" is depicted through these two works.
