Culture Entertainment Inc. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Nakanishi Kazuo; hereinafter referred to as CE), a CCC Group company that plans and produces entertainment content, is co-managing the project, and C&I Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of CE, has planned and produced the film Drive My Car, directed by Hamaguchi Ryusuke. The film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on Friday, February 18th, and will be available for advance rental at TSUTAYA stores nationwide on the same day.

This film is a movie adaptation of "Drive My Car," a story included in Haruki Murakami's short story collection "Men Without Women" (published by Bunshun Bunko), directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, who won the Jury Grand Prix (Silver Bear) at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival in 2021 for his film "Chance and Imagination."At the 94th Academy Awards, it became the first Japanese film to be nominated for Best Picture, and was also nominated in four other categories: Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. It has also won numerous awards both at home and abroad, including the first Japanese film to win Best Screenplay at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, the first Japanese film to win Best Non-English Language Film at the 79th Golden Globe Awards in 62 years, and the Grand Prize for Japanese Film and Best Director at the 76th Mainichi Film Awards.

"Drive My Car" Synopsis

Kafuku, a stage actor and director, lived a fulfilling life with his beloved wife, Oto. However, Oto suddenly disappears from this world, leaving behind a secret.
Two years later, while driving his car to a theater festival in Hiroshima, Kafuku meets Misaki, his personal driver, a quiet man with a past.
Kafuku, who has been tormented by sadness and a "secret that he has never been able to reveal," begins to realize something as he spends time with Misaki.
