The third "Golf Survey" Vol. 1, released in September 2021, revealed that there is growing demand for golf as a lifelong sport that can be enjoyed by families of all ages while avoiding crowds even during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Vol. 2, we analyzed a database of over 70 million T members to examine the characteristics of each generation—golfers in their 20s, 40s, and 60s—and presented insights and needs regarding golf for each gender and age group.
In the recently released Vol. 3, we conducted a golf questionnaire survey of 1,784 T members who had played golf at a golf course or driving range in the past year to investigate their playing style, values, and mental tendencies, and then used cluster analysis to create seven character golfer types. Furthermore, by interpreting factual data such as survey results and purchasing information, we have delved deeper into the characteristics of golfers, such as their frequently purchased drinks*, and have further clarified the outlines of each type.
Furthermore, based on the results of this survey, "7 Types of Golfer Diagnosis" websitehas also opened. Anyone can find out their golfer type by answering 13 questions in just one minute. Please share it with your family and friends on social media.
*[Frequently purchased drinks]: The products that are typically purchased are selected as products that each golfer type purchases more frequently than general T members.
Characteristics of each golfer type
① [Top-class practice volume] The solitary "serious golfer" type
[Personality and characteristics of a "serious golfer"]
There is a relatively large number of people who start playing golf as a result of work. The number of rounds played is the highest of all types, the amount of practice is also among the highest, and it seems that many people take golf seriously as a sport. In addition, many people have a strong desire to improve, practice hard to achieve this, and are also aware of the importance of the mental state when approaching golf.
When broken down by age group, the results showed that more than 10% of all age groups were affected. Among them, the largest group is those in their 60s and 70s, accounting for about 40% of the total, suggesting that people become more passionate about golf as they get older. In addition, the average score was 101.5, the second highest among all types, making it a truly talented type.
[Comments that a "serious golfer" might make]
"Anyway, I'm taking it very seriously. Otherwise, it would be disrespectful to golf, right?"

② [Fashion is important] The "Fashionista Golfer" type enjoys having fun with friends
[Personality and characteristics of a "Fashionista Golfer"]
A major feature of golfers is their strong interest in fashion (golf apparel), and many seem to view a round of golf as an opportunity to "show off their fashion sense."Additionally, many people enjoy playing rounds with their work colleagues, and tend to feel that spending time with golfing buddies is "incredibly fun."
Looking at the age groups, the largest group was those in their 20s, accounting for over 20% of the total, followed by those in their 30s to 50s. It appears that fashion while playing is attracting attention across a wide range of generations, especially among the trend-conscious young generation.

Also, because it can be easily paired with a variety of cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, and Western, it may be useful for "coordinating" meals to suit your mood that day, just like fashion.
3. [Score is secondary!] The "Enjoy Golfer" type who loves to have fun
[Personality and characteristics of an "Enjoyment Golfer"]
In a nutshell, he is like a veteran golfer who has stopped chasing scores. They are not obsessed with scores, but rather tend to seek "fun" in golf, such as having fun chatting with friends during the round or refreshing themselves outdoors surrounded by nature.
Looking at the age groups, those in their 60s and 70s account for nearly 70%, suggesting that this is more prevalent among veterans. On the other hand, only about 10% of people in their 20s to 40s are "enjoyment golfers," and it seems that many of them have a playing style that places a strong emphasis on score.
[Comments that an "enjoyment golfer" might make]
"It's enough if you can have fun playing a round with like-minded friends."
"I've been playing golf for a long time, but I don't really care about my score anymore!"
[What drink do you often buy?]
There is a strong tendency for people to buy canned coffee, and it seems that many of them are coffee lovers. Low-alcohol canned chuhai are also popular, and while people like to have fun, they also tend to prefer a chilled, relaxed atmosphere for their morning routines and drinking parties.
4. [Emphasis on appearance] The "hashtag golfer" type who posts on social media
[Personality and characteristics of "hashtag golfers"]
They love uploading photos and videos of their rounds and practice sessions to social media, and tend to have the highest rate of experience with "simulation golf."On the other hand, there is a low desire to "have fun playing with friends," and there appears to be a tendency for people to be somewhat uninterested in other players. Scores seem to range widely from beginner to advanced.
Looking at the age groups, those in their 20s and 30s accounted for 50% of the total, followed by those in their 40s and 50s. It also accounts for 18% of the total golf population, making it the most common type of golfer, suggesting that there is a growing demand for "looking good for golf" especially among young and middle-aged people.

There is a strong tendency for people to purchase "high-end beer cans" and "popular beer cans," indicating that they are highly sensitive to photogenic products. On the other hand, they also have a high propensity to purchase energy drinks, which may suggest that their private lives are active and busy.
⑤ [Gadget lover] Trend-conscious "gear-geek golfer" type
[Personality and characteristics of a "gear-loving golfer"]
In stark contrast to the saying "everyone is different," people believe that "digital tools can help improve your golf game," and they are sensitive to information about the latest and most popular gear and items, with a strong tendency to want to try new things. He is also confident in his driving distance, and it seems that he sometimes secretly has a competitive spirit against players in his group.
When looking at the age groups, we can see that the distribution is wide, from the 70s at the top to the 40s. It is clear that he is honing his past experience and skills by making full use of the latest gear. His average score of 99.6 was the highest of all types, showing his impressive skills.
[Comments that a "gear-obsessed golfer" might make]
"Of course, you can only use tools. I think the score is pretty good too."
"I often check information about new tools, apps, items, etc., and actually try out a lot of them."
[What drink do you often buy?]
There is a strong tendency to purchase "low-calorie sparkling beer" and "energy drinks," and it appears that even in everyday shopping, people place importance on product functionality, not just price and taste.
⑥ [No pressure] The "naive golfer" type who focuses on playing
[Personality and characteristics of a "naive golfer"]
They have a strong desire to improve and tend to practice a lot. They also have little interest in having fun with friends or taking photos or videos during the round, and while they concentrate on their play, they tend to be too cautious and not be able to see the results of their practice at crucial moments. Since the number of rounds is small compared to the amount of practice, gaining more practical experience and developing the courage to bounce back from pressure may be a shortcut to improvement.
Looking at the age groups, the 60s account for an exceptionally high proportion, exceeding 30%. Many players may be prone to slumps due to declining physical strength and other factors, which may mean they are at a turning point in their playing style.
[Comments that a "naive golfer" might make]
"I've been playing golf for quite a while, but I always get nervous at crucial moments and make mistakes..."
"I've been practicing a lot, but I just can't get a good score..."
[What drink do you often buy?]

⑦ [Example for everyone] Always keep a cool head: The "hidden advanced golfer" type
[Personality and characteristics of "hidden advanced golfers"]
He has a strong mentality, is always calm and natural, and is easygoing, yet shows the characteristics of a "hidden advanced player" who is able to achieve good scores. They also have time to chat with friends and enjoy nature during their rounds, and many of them seem to have an exemplary playing style, never forgetting to be considerate and hospitable to their teammates.
Looking at the age groups, over 50% were in their 60s and 70s. The majority of users are middle-aged and elderly, with 40% being in their 40s and 50s. Perhaps the composure he has cultivated through his life experiences, including golf, is reflected in his golfing personality.
[Comments that a "secretly advanced golfer" might make]
"Golf really brings out your character."
"If you can just be yourself and enjoy the round with your friends, I think you'll be able to play with a calm mind."
[What drink do you often buy?]
