Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture (Mayor: Norifumi Morita, hereinafter referred to as "Uki City") will reopen the Shiranui Art Museum and Library on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter referred to as "CCC"), in partnership with Uki City, will act as the designated manager to provide a comfortable space and high-quality services to the citizens of Uki City, and will realize the concept of "a library and art museum where everyone can develop and express their creativity."Also, please look forward to CCC's first art museum planning and management. The first special exhibition will be "Unfinished Star [mikən-sei]" by KOSUGE1-16. The title "Mikansei [mikən-sei]" means incompleteness and also refers to the citrus fruit that is a specialty of Uki. We will be introducing a huge, playable soccer game that deals with local issues in Uki City, as well as actual unfinished projects and stories from people who were invited to participate.
The new Shiranui Art Museum and Library will be a hub for knowledge, information, interaction, and relaxation, open 365 days a year from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Seven features of the Shiranui Art Museum and Library
1) This is a museum and library that is open 365 days a year. Opening hours are from 9am to 9pm.
*Children's Picture Book House/Art Museum 9:00-18:00 The museum is closed temporarily when changing exhibits, and is open until 9pm on Saturdays only as part of the Night Museum.
2) There is a Starbucks just inside the entrance, and you can read books while drinking coffee purchased at the seats inside the library in a BOOK & CAFE style.
3) The seating capacity is approximately 170. Each and every citizen can use it as a place for communication, a place to improve themselves, or a place to relax. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. Seats with power outlets are also available.
4) The Children's Picture Book House, which was built using the Minna no Ie (Everyone's Home) reconstruction center that was used after the Kumamoto earthquake, now has 11,000 picture books. It is a space that both parents and children can enjoy.
5) The museum has a collection of approximately 400 works. We also plan to hold three special exhibitions per year. There will also be a number of exhibitions planned by local residents. The attached museum shop will bring you the full charm of the region.
6) A variety of events will be held in the museum and plaza, including markets, workshops, and talk events. The following events are scheduled for April:
◇April 3rd (Sun) - June 4th (Sat) [Museum] "Unfinished Star [mikən-sei]" by KOSUGE1-16
Introducing actual playable soccer games and unfinished projects (= unfinished) created by people who submitted entries, as well as stories from the project.
◇ April 3rd (Sun) 13:00~ Special Exhibition Artist Talk "Unfinished Talk"
A talk event about KOSUGE1-16 and the exhibition theme "Unfinished"
◇Saturday, April 9th, 1pm-3pm Parent-child workshop "Let's draw using our bodies"
Freely draw with colorful paints on paper spread out on the grass
◇ April 29th (Friday, national holiday) 11:00-15:00 "Shiranui Bread Marche"
A gathering of delicious bakeries and food trucks from Kumamoto

7) You can borrow and reserve books using LINE on your smartphone. You will also be able to use the library map function to search for books on your smartphone.
