TSUTAYA BOOKS Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture between Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (CCC) and Sojitz Corporation (Sojitz), has signed a franchise agreement with a local franchisee and opened Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Books (BUKIT JALIL TSUTAYA BOOKS), the first Tsutaya Bookstore in an ASEAN member state, on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Bookstore is located on the second floor of Pavilion Bukit Jalil, one of Malaysia's largest community-based shopping complexes, which opened in December 2021 in Bukit Jalil, a popular residential and commercial area located in the south of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Bookstore is a large, complex bookstore that offers lifestyle suggestions based on the concept of "Cultivate Lifestyle & Culture.""Cultivate" means to cultivate (character, habits, etc.) or to deepen (acquaintances and relationships), and we aim to provide a "local community base" where customers can gather in a relaxing space. The store, with a large "BOOK & CAFE" at its core, is divided into four themes: CHILDREN, ART, READING, and LIFESTYLE PROPOSAL. Books on each theme are selected primarily in four languages: English, Chinese, Malay, and Japanese, with the aim of creating a space that inspires all customers.

Features of "Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Bookstore"

1) Malaysia's new art spot
Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Bookstore will feature an "Art Street" where visitors can browse art-related books from the oldest to the most recent, as well as an art gallery showcasing artists active in Japan and Malaysia, with the aim of becoming a new art spot that will help discover young local artists. At the opening, the art gallery will exhibit the photo book "Good Morning, Hello, I Love You" by popular Japanese photographer Kawashima Kotori, as well as "O-NI-GI-RI cup," a work inspired by Japanese rice balls by acclaimed Malaysian ceramic artist Glen.

2) Proposing a lifestyle that incorporates diverse cultures
In Malaysia, a country with a diverse mix of ethnicities and traditional cultures, we will propose a new lifestyle that incorporates Japanese culture. Additionally, there will be a wide selection of Japan crafts that can only be found here, such as the signature "Water Fan" from "Kamino Shigoto," a brand that proposes products that fit into modern life using Mino's handmade washi paper, a tradition that continues 1,300 years ago, and "AERO CONCEPT," a fully handmade bag brand that utilizes the manufacturing technology of precision aircraft structural parts, creating an encounter with the unique beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.

3) "BOOK & CAFE" offers a special experience
As Malaysia's first large-scale "BOOK & CAFE," customers can bring in pre-purchase books and magazines and enjoy them in a relaxed atmosphere over a meal or coffee.
CAFE "IVY TOKYO" for Malaysian customers. At " Coffee & Tea," Japanese food professionals will be offering a new dining experience, including sweets such as matcha latte and dorayaki, as well as cafe menu items such as one-plate meals and open sandwiches.

4) Malaysia's largest children's book store
Bukit Jalil Tsutaya Bookstore, which primarily targets new families in their 20s to 40s, offers one of the largest selections of children's books in Malaysia that support the healthy development of children.
