Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CCC) and its subsidiary Tsutaya Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have signed a franchise agreement with Renheng Land (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. and opened the TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Chengdu Renheng Land Plaza Store in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, on August 31, 2022, as the first TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE in Sichuan Province.
The TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Chengdu Renheng Land Plaza store will be located on the first and second floors of Renheng Land Plaza, a commercial facility located in the CBD (Central Business District) area in the heart of Chengdu.
Based on the concept of being a "destination for a high-quality lifestyle," Jinko Kichi Plaza will be lined with tenants offering a variety of lifestyle-enhancing activities, including fashion brands, general merchandise stores, movie theaters, and restaurants.
At the TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Chengdu Renheng Land Plaza Store, we will also be following the concept of the commercial facility, with the spatial concept of "RELAX & LOCAL" as we aim to create a space filled with lifestyle suggestions that will help Chengdu customers enjoy a better life.
TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE will continue to inspire the creativity of people in Japan and China, and aim to become a special place loved by many by offering new reading styles and exciting experiences.
Features of "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Chengdu Renheng Land Plaza"
1) BOOK & CAFE, a lifestyle-focused store that combines bookstores and cafes
The store has approximately 45,000 books and approximately 100 cafe seats. The pillars and cafe tables inside the store are made of bricks known as "salt bricks." The store is located in an area that once thrived as a salt market in Chengdu, and the design is intended to give customers a sense of history and local culture. You can also enjoy books and magazines along with a wide variety of drinks, including distinctive lattes made with coffee and tea. In the "BOOK & CAFE" space, which is designed with a focus on comfort, we offer a selection of books and miscellaneous goods aimed at the intellectually curious customers of Chengdu, proposing a "lifestyle you'll want."
2) Suggested items to enrich your daily life
We stock a wide range of items to enrich your daily life, with a focus on stationery and miscellaneous goods imported from Japan. For example, we offer products that will make your daily life more enjoyable, such as "HASAMI PORCELAIN" (photo left), a tableware that is a modern adaptation of Japanese Hasami ware, the 70th anniversary series of "MIDORI" (photo center), beautiful stationery that is fun to use, and "BUNZABURO" (photo right), fashion accessories made by a Kyoto kimono shop that has been in business for over 100 years.
To commemorate the opening, we will also be selling limited edition original tote bags.
The product will be presented in packaging that resembles a scroll, which has been used for books since ancient times, with the characters "Shu" (pronounced "shu"), meaning Chengdu, and "Shu" (pronounced "book"), written on both sides. Chengdu has the largest number of bookstores in China, so this large 2-way bag was created with the hope that people will carry a variety of books and enjoy reading.
3) Kids area for parents and children to enjoy together
In the KIDS area, we have a wide selection of children's books categorized by age group, as well as many items that can be used as gifts. There will also be a corner with educational toys that can be tried out, a kids' space where children can read picture books, and even a corner for home education where parents can read to them, creating a space where parents and children can have fun together.
After the opening, we also plan to hold events such as picture book readings.
4) Proposal of Japanese culture
As part of our proposal for Japanese culture, we have set up a corner related to Japanese anime and manga. We stock a wide range of items, including classic works that will make you nostalgic, manga that are currently popular in Japan, merchandise related to the works, and illustration collections by artists.
In particular, we stock a wide range of manga in Japanese as well as translated Chinese versions, as we want people to get to know the works in a way that is as close to the original as possible.
