The Takeo City Tourism Association (Chairman: Yamashita Yusuke), a general incorporated foundation, has commissioned Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki, hereinafter referred to as CCC) to operate the new facilities, "Takeo Travel Bookstore" and "Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center," which will open on Friday, September 23rd.
With the opening of the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen (Takeo Onsen Station to Nagasaki) on Friday, September 23rd, the Takeo Travel Bookstore will be newly established at JR Takeo Onsen Station, and the Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center will be a renovated version of the Takeo City Tourist Information Center located inside the conventional line station building, based on the shared concept of "a place to discover unknown charms."
Takeo Travel Bookstore is a "BOOK & CAFE/BAR" style bookstore that mainly stocks books related to travel. At Takeo Onsen Station, the starting point for travel in Western Kyushu, we will be stocking approximately 1,000 books, including travel-related books, books on the regional characteristics and culture of various parts of Western Kyushu, and novels to accompany your journey.
The cafe also offers Takeo Travel Bookstore's original blend of coffee, "Lemon Green Tea" made with Ureshino tea, a Saga prefecture specialty, and Takeo City's specialty lemongrass, as well as local sake and beer served in Takeo ware and Arita ware. Guests can also enjoy baguettes from a popular bakery in Takeo City, sandwiches made with prosciutto from a handmade ham specialty shop, and sweets such as affogato.
Furthermore, Takeo Travel Bookstore will offer a wide range of products that can only be purchased in Takeo, Saga, and Western Kyushu. As a "West Kyushu select shop," we will be offering a wide range of products packed with the charms of each region, including "Chawan Monaka" (a type of wafer wafer) modeled after an Arita ware tea bowl, "TOUSEKI" (a chopstick and cutlery rest modeled after actual stone quarried from the Izumiyama Magnet Field in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture), and "Chiwataya Tea Butter," a sweet butter cream made with "Sonogi tea" from Higashisonogi Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, and rich butter.
Once you pass through the noren curtain at the entrance to the Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center, you will find an interior design that inherits the checkered pattern of the magnificent all-marble bath, Takeo Onsen Tonosama-yu, which was built in the mid-Edo period as the private bath for the feudal lord Takeo Nabeshima. The center also features bathtubs and other items on display, welcoming tourists as a gateway to the hot spring town of Takeo.
The facility sells local products related to Takeo City, and also functions as a tourist information center, with a tourist information counter, bicycle rentals, and luggage storage.Information signs and other materials for foreign tourists are written in multiple languages, including English, Korean, and traditional Chinese.
Additionally, Takeo ware works will be on display on the large table in the center of the adjacent waiting area for conventional trains, making it a gallery that can be enjoyed by both tourists and local residents.
Through these two facilities, the Takeo City Tourism Association and CCC aim to create a place for interaction between tourists visiting Takeo City and local residents.
