November 1st, the middle day of Autumn Reading Week (October 27th to November 9th), is Book Day. The books on the shelves are likened to the number "111," and bookstores across the country are coming up with ideas to please their customers as part of an initiative called "Let's get people to come to our bookstores."
Tsutaya Bookstore supports this initiative and will be holding a paperback book fair called "Concierge Bookstore," featuring a carefully selected selection of books by 25 of the 120 concierges at Tsutaya Bookstores nationwide. At the same time, we will also be holding a "Picture Book Expo" that will introduce picture books selected by 11 children's book concierges, and a fair featuring works that have won the "TSUTAYA Picture Book Award."

[Concierge Library]
This year marks the fourth year of the Concierge Library, which sets a theme and distributes paperback books selected by concierges across the country. The theme this time is "Books you want to erase your memory and read again."
Once you read a book, you can't go back to the person you were before you read it. There is the joy of discovering new things when rereading, but I also envy readers who will be reading this book with a fresh mind. ...With this in mind, 50 books selected by our concierges will be on display at this fair. Some of them are introduced below.

"Ghost Lifesaving Team" by Kazuaki Takano (Bungeishunju)
Coming across this book was the greatest blessing of my life. Every time I reread this book, I feel encouraged and inspired. I thought the idea that books could save people was a myth, but I was wrong. This book was exactly that. Unfortunately, I can no longer experience the same thrilling emotion I felt when I first read this book without knowing anything about it.

"The Love Suicides at the River Modori" by Mikihiko Renjo (Kobunsha)
I remember how lucky I was as a teenager, when I didn't even know the novelist Renjo Mikihiko... I'm only now thinking about this. This book is a masterpiece that shines brightly in the history of Japanese mystery novels, and it makes you think that a short mystery of this caliber will probably never be published again. The way they managed to capture everything in a limited space is simply amazing.

[Picture Book Expo]
In his book, children's literature author Teiji Seta introduces the words of poet Herbert Read: "The best poetry contains both magic and music."The children's book concierges at Tsutaya Bookstore believe that "great picture books also contain magic and music," and they've compiled a list of 24 "Magic & Music Picture Books" that combine soothing words and illustrations to transport readers to a magical world.

A fair will also be held at the same time featuring works nominated for the award, including "My Paper is So Messy" (author: Yoshitake Shinsuke/publisher: Hakusensha), which won this year's "TSUTAYA Picture Book Award."

 Additionally, Daikanyama T-Site will be holding a special Ehon Haku event on Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th. Various events are planned, including a performance by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, a picture book reading by Mika Horii, and a talk and autograph session by Taro Gomi.
