Since 2015, KOCCA has been holding the international competition "StartupCon" every year in Seoul to discover Korean startups and support their expansion into the global market. CCC and Digital Hollywood Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takeshi Yoshimura; President: Tomoyuki Sugiyama; hereinafter referred to as "Digital Hollywood") have been selected as the first Japanese companies to feature in StartupCon 2022. In preparation for StartupCon 2022, CCC presented a business plan utilizing TSUTAYA sales floor space and T member data.

Eight Korean startup companies made it to the final judging panel of StartupCon, and FNS Holdings, which entered based on a theme proposed by CCC, won the Grand Prize, while Yegan IT won the CCC & Digital Hollywood Award. The business proposed by Yagan IT is a metaverse platform called "Snovall," which allows users to take videos of the space they desire using their smartphones, feed the videos into the metaverse, and engage in various forms of communication using avatars. By utilizing unused space in TSUTAYA stores as an experience space and allowing users to immediately materialize characters they created in the Metaverse, they proposed a Metaverse future-fun-style (future-oriented play style) that is linked to offline spaces.

CCC will invite Yegan IT to business meetings in Japan to promote business collaboration between the two companies, and will also consider collaborating with FNS Holdings, the grand prize winner, and other companies that appeared at the final judging panel at StartupCon.

Comment from Park Byung-jae, CEO of Yegan IT, who received the CCC & Digital Hollywood Award

My business journey over the past six years has been sometimes difficult and sometimes happy. The road to success can feel long and difficult, but I still enjoy the experience every day. I didn't have time to breathe in the cold air of dawn or feel the warm breeze before the flowers bloom, I spent the day smelling the scent of dusk, and in the midst of the daily cycle of welcoming tomorrow, I came across today.

I felt as if CCC President Masuda was telling me, "You're not wrong," and tears welled up in my eyes. No matter where you are or what time it is, you can become a planner, a designer, and live a life of freedom. Together with TSUTAYA, we want to paint a future of freedom for the people we live in today.

Comment from Grand Prize winner Choi Hyun-seok, CEO of FNS Holdings

Hello, this is Choi Hyun-seok, CEO of FNS Holdings (FASSKER). Winning the grand prize in this startup contest means a lot to me in many ways.

First of all, this is the first time that I have won this award without presenting it myself, but through a presentation by one of our staff members. I realized that the digital fashion ecosystem we were creating was not just my own initiative, but that the key members of the company were also in agreement. Secondly, I think we have established a foothold for entering the Japanese market. For me, the Japanese market is a very attractive market. I had already experienced this at my previous job at LINE, and it's not an easy market for a small Korean startup to enter on its own. We are extremely honored to have the opportunity to work with the CCC Group, one of Japan's leading companies. Thirdly, I was very happy to be recognized by the CCC group. I have been creating digital services while reading Masuda's books like a bible. Being recognized by someone I respect and a company I admire was an irreplaceable and wonderful moment.

We are trying to change the existing balance of power in the fashion market. I believe that the digital fashion market that FASSKER wants to create is, in a sense, the most necessary industry in Japan. We will make thorough preparations and look forward to pioneering a new digital fashion market together with the CCC Group.
