The first SHARE LOUNGE in the Marunouchi area, the largest in Japan
"TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE MARUNOUCHI" will also feature "SHARE LOUNGE," the 17th store in Japan and the first in the Marunouchi area. The SHARE LOUNGE is the largest SHARE LOUNGE in Japan, with 220 seats and an open atrium spanning two floors, 17 private rooms and two conference rooms, overlooking the beautiful Tokyo Station building.
"SHARE LOUNGE" opened in November 2019 at TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Shibuya Scramble Square with the concept of "a place where ideas are born and shared."This space combines the functionality of a shared office with the comfort of a lounge. With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing major changes to working styles, the space has gained support from customers and expanded to new locations both domestically and internationally, with the app having been downloaded more than 130,000 times. (As of December 15, 2022: 17 stores in Japan, 2 stores in Taiwan, 6 affiliated stores)
Now that remote work has become the norm and people can work anywhere, from home to a cafe, there is a growing need for people to work in inspiring environments, such as bookstores with a wide selection of books to source ideas and comfortable spaces. In response to this customer need, CCC has set a goal of opening 100 SHARE LOUNGEs in the Tokyo metropolitan area. We will continue to open stores in a variety of facilities, including commercial facilities, office buildings, hotels, and residences.

■Artist profile: Ken Tanishiki
"Ken Tanishiki has reinterpreted the uniquely Japanese textile technique of Kimekomi as a painting technique, implementing new forms of pictorial expression. Kimekomi, which has its roots in the Edo period and was created by using off-cuts from temple and shrine construction to make dolls, is reinterpreted by Tanishiki based on his own experiences, limiting the materials used to secondhand clothes and scrap wood, and capturing the physicality, time, and sense of life that come from the original owners, as well as the brand concept that the secondhand clothes that were used as materials originally possessed, and passing it on by replacing it in the form of a painting, while at the same time replacing the unique culture and value of Kimekomi and traditional crafts, which are filled with prayers and wishes, with a modern twist.
His major solo exhibitions to date include "FLOW & CONNECT" (hiro okamoto gallery 2022, Tokyo), "PAUSE" (Shibuya Living, 2021, Tokyo), and "touch point" (Kyoto Wacoal Study Hall, 2021, Kyoto), and he has also participated in major group exhibitions such as "Creating with Hands - Hanae Mori and Young Artists" (Art Tower Mito, 2009, Ibaraki) and "section" (spiral hall, 2021, Tokyo). "
■Exhibition overview
"REANIMATION"
This series of works was created with the aim of turning the experience of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic into something positive, and is based on the motif of skateboarding, which has a perspective on how to set obstacles, overcome them, and make (live) through those obstacles.
I received used clothing from people who actually skate, and used the Kimekomi technique to create this piece, borrowing the power they possess through their used clothing, in the hope that it would convey the challenge, courage, and sense of freedom they feel when they use their mental and physical abilities to overcome obstacles for others.
