CCC and Chubu Electric Power Miraizu Sign Comprehensive Partnership Agreement Aiming to Develop a Community "Nurturing Bonds through Electricity"

- Energy sharing realized at "Karuizawa Commongrounds" -

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki; hereinafter referred to as "CCC") and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; Representative Director: Otani Shinya; hereinafter referred to as "Chubu Electric Power Miraiz") today signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on urban development.

Under this agreement, the two companies will install solar power generation equipment in stores such as bookstores and cafes within Karuizawa Commongrounds, a community facility scheduled to open in Nakakaruizawa on March 1, 2023, as well as in nearby residential areas. In addition, an EV* with charging and discharging functions will be installed in the parking space on the south side of the bookstore.

Furthermore, by sharing renewable energy generated from solar power and EVs within the community, including "Karuizawa Commongrounds" and neighboring residential areas, we will work to make effective use of renewable energy and realize the community as a disaster prevention base.

*An abbreviation for Electric Vehicle, a vehicle that runs solely on electricity without using gasoline or other fuels.

Karuizawa Town, where Karuizawa Commongrounds is located, has enacted the Karuizawa Town Basic Environmental Ordinance, which promotes collaboration toward building a sustainable society and the conservation and creation of the environment. The two companies will contribute to achieving the region's SDGs and realizing a carbon-neutral society by developing cities through social collaboration services aimed at local production and consumption and optimization of energy.

Furthermore, the initiative to produce and consume renewable energy locally in collaboration with local residents, centered around Karuizawa Commongrounds, which serves as a hub for the local community, is a pioneering example of urban development that "fosters bonds through electricity," and knowledge gained from this initiative will be utilized in other regions.

Going forward, the two companies will promote initiatives aimed at urban development that utilizes energy, mobility, and digital transformation to support the community, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality and resolving regional issues.
