This is the first project in the "Wide-area Marketing Project for 15 Cities and Towns in the Hamadori Region and Other Areas" which aims to increase the number of visitors to the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture, with an eye toward expanding the base of people who will be relocating to the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture and growing demand in the region. Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from today for those who want to go winter camping or who want to experience the passion of producers involved in the "sake and gourmet" industry in the Hamadori area.

The outdoor dining event "HAMA-SAKE DINING in Hamadori, Fukushima Prefecture" is an event where a local French chef will serve a course meal using ingredients from the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture. Guests will enjoy a meal while chatting with producers and drinking local craft beer, sake, and other drinks. Afterwards, they will be able to enjoy the great outdoors at the auto campsite within the venue, Green Park Miyakoji. Through this event, CCCMKHD and HAMADOORI31 aim to provide an opportunity for people from inside and outside Fukushima Prefecture to meet the people who continue to take on challenges in Hamadori, and through dialogue with them, experience the current state of Hamadori with all five senses, thereby expanding the circle of interaction.

In 15 cities and towns in Fukushima Prefecture, including the Hamadori region, residents were forced to leave their areas, mainly those that were designated as restricted areas and planned evacuation areas, after the accident at the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, leaving behind their livelihoods. Subsequent efforts to restore the environment have led to the lifting of evacuation orders, but it cannot be said that residents' livelihoods have returned to the same levels as before the disaster.
In the midst of all this, there are people who have overcome the disaster and are working with the sole purpose of revitalizing their communities through food, which is the most important aspect of people's health. The efforts of these producers, who restarted from scratch and have continued to work hard, have steadily been attracting attention in recent years. Three years have passed since the spread of COVID-19 dramatically changed our lifestyles. The subsequent COVID-19 pandemic marked a major turning point in causing a paradigm shift in people's values from material wealth to inner wealth.

This event was assisted by several producers active in the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture, including Motoki Hiroshi, who is working on the sixth-sector industrialization of tomatoes in Iwaki City; Kikuchi Masahei, who runs a farm in Soma City and is also involved in food education; Yoshida Ken, who is working in Katsurao Village to brand domestic lamb, which accounts for only 1% of domestic distribution (providing ingredients only); Homma Makoto, from Tamura City, who is in charge of craft beer made entirely from hops grown in Tamura City and the public facility Green Park Miyakoji; Shimoeda Hironori, who is involved in a wide range of efforts in Katsurao Village, including agricultural experiences and the sixth-sector industrialization of local products; and Sato Mizuki, from Minamisoma City, who is working on sake brewing using the hanamoto method, which uses hops. Additionally, although the Green Park Miyakoji auto campground is currently closed for the winter, they have agreed to the purpose of the event and will operate as a special campground on the day of the event.

About the venue, Green Park Miyakoji

The venue, Green Park Miyakoji, is a public facility owned by Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture, and has been operated as a designated manager by Hop Japan Co., Ltd. since April 2021. Hop Japan has renovated its facilities in Green Park Miyakoji and is working on craft beer brewing based on the concept of "a brewery where you can feel the breeze of greenery and hops."With local sustainability as its theme, the brewery is working to build a circular ecosystem centered around the brewery, using only hops grown in Tamura City and using the hop dregs generated during the brewing process as fertilizer for hop cultivation and as material for livestock farmers. The venue was chosen because it is the field for the theme of this event, "The Challenges of Hamadori Producers."

About the producers who cooperated with us

■Hiroshi Motoki (Iwaki City): Representative of Wonder Farm Co., Ltd. In 2013, after the earthquake, he founded Wonder Farm with the aim of developing the tomatoes he had been producing into a sixth-sector industry. The aim is to revitalize the local area through a wide range of initiatives, including supporting food education for local children and hosting markets.

■Masahei Kikuchi (Soma City): After working in the Tokyo metropolitan area to support the homeless, he decided to pursue farming full-time and acquired know-how at farms across the country. After the earthquake, he returned to Soma City and established Onomura Farm. We aim to preserve the original landscape for the future while also working on food education.

■Ken Yoshida (Katsurao Village): Representative of Ushiya Co., Ltd. Before the earthquake, he was involved in the family business of livestock farming, focusing on cattle. In 2016, he became independent and started livestock farming from scratch. By branding "domestic lamb," which accounts for only about 1% of domestic distribution, the village aims to create an industry within the village.

■Makoto Homma (Tamura City): Representative of Hop Japan Co., Ltd. The brewery was opened in Green Park Miyakoji, a public facility that had been dormant since the earthquake. The facility aims to be a place where visitors can experience local sustainability, using only hops produced in Tamura City.

■Shimoeda Hironori (Katsurao Village): Founded Katsuragi Creative Studio in 2012 after the earthquake. After the evacuation order was lifted in 2016, a wide range of initiatives were launched, including agricultural experiences and the sixth-industry development of local specialties. We create sustainable systems that allow people to live happily.

■Mizuki Sato (Minamisoma City): haccoba.inc. The brewery, a renovated private home, produces sake using the hanamoto method, which uses hops. The aim is to create a local community centered around a sake brewery in an area that was temporarily deserted due to the earthquake.
