- Promoting the sixth industrialization of agriculture*1 in Agriscience Valley Joso (Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture) -

Toda Corporation (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Seisuke Otani), Towa Kanko Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. (Head office: Oshima-gun, Yamaguchi Prefecture; President: Takeshi Kobayashi; hereinafter referred to as "Towa Kanko Kaihatsu"), a Toda Corporation Group company, and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and COO: Yoshinori Takahashi; hereinafter referred to as "CCC") are participating as PPP business partners in the "Agriscience Valley Project (Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture)," and will be grand opening "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Joso Interchange" on Saturday, May 27, 2023, located right next to the Joso Interchange on the Ken-O Expressway.

The "Agriscience Valley Concept" is centered around the area around the Joso Interchange on the Ken-O Expressway, and aims to contribute to regional revitalization by creating a new base through the sixth-sector agricultural industry, with a focus on food, agriculture, and health. In this project, "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Joso Interchange" will create a tertiary industry space that will attract a diverse range of customers, thereby contributing to the formation and development of a vibrant and unique local community in Joso City.
The facility is based on the concept of a "Second House," and is a multi-purpose bookstore that offers lifestyle suggestions based on the themes of "parents and children," "lifestyle," and "food," centered around the "BOOK & CAFE" where customers can leisurely select books before purchasing while enjoying a coffee or other beverage. We offer a space where the whole family can spend time together, with play areas both inside and outside the facility that parents and children can enjoy.

*1 Since it incorporates not only the original primary industries of agriculture, forestry and fishing, but also secondary industries (industry and manufacturing) and tertiary industries (sales and services), it means "6", which is the product of "1 for primary industry" x "2 for secondary industry" x "3 for tertiary industry".

[What is the Agriscience Valley Initiative?]
This is a town development project that aims to revitalize the region through the sixth-sector agricultural industry by consolidating farmland owned by many landowners into large plots and developing business facilities that handle everything from production, processing, distribution, and sales.
Our company has been involved in the local area since the project's conception stage, and has concluded a public-private partnership agreement with the city and landowner, while also acting as the administrative agent for the land readjustment project.
