CCCMK Holdings Co., Ltd. / Tokyo Islands Tourism Federation General Incorporated Association Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau / Taica Corporation / Intellectual Property Guide Co., Ltd.
- A co-created product born from the collaboration between Ogasawara Ambassador and supporting companies -
CCCMK Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takahashi Yoshinori) and the Tokyo Islands Tourism Federation, Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo), a general incorporated association that disseminates information about the Ogasawara Islands, a World Heritage Site, and attracts tourists, have been working on the co-education project "Ogasawa Lab" since April 2021, bringing together residents and islanders to "develop the island, its people, and the future together."
We have developed "Touchable Ogasawara" as an original product that will allow many people to experience the charm of Ogasawara through touching the rare creatures of Ogasawara, even if they are not on the island. Sales will begin on September 30, 2023, coinciding with the opening of "Ogasawara Base," a new permanent exhibit at Sumida Aquarium (5th and 6th floors of Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, 1-1-2 Oshiage, Sumida-ku, Tokyo), which will allow visitors to feel a connection with the Ogasawara Islands.
The Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau has been focusing on themes in recent years such as "promoting tourism through education" and "co-creation with Ogasawara ambassadors," and is carrying out a variety of activities to get children interested in Ogasawara, including visiting elementary schools to give lectures. As part of an effort to embody education and co-creation, we have expanded on the ideas gathered at "Ogasawa Lab" and aimed to develop goods that not only convey the deep charm of Ogasawara that only ambassadors can offer, but also serve as educational tools.
In order to make it easier to encounter the rare creatures that are unique to Ogasawara, a paradise for endemic species that "can only be found here on Earth," we have worked with Taica Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Suzuki Daito) to recreate the "touch and feel" of the various creatures that inhabit Ogasawara using "αGEL," an extremely soft, gel-like sensory material made primarily from silicone that Taica developed. It has been created in the form of a playful miniature book that will make you want to pick it up and collect it. The specifications for "Touchable Ogasawara" and the selection of creatures to use as motifs were decided upon through meetings with Ogasawara ambassadors, and ultimately five species were selected by ambassador vote:
In addition, some of the textures and content will be supervised by Sumida Aquarium, which works in partnership with Ogasawara Village to carry out exhibits in the "Ogasawara Large Aquarium," where creatures native to Ogasawara, including the only Ogasawara-native sand shark* in Japan, live, as well as green sea turtle conservation activities. We will work together to create excitement through sales in conjunction with the opening of the new permanent exhibit, "Ogasawara Base," and aim to further expand our operations.

■Comment from Professor Kota Minamizawa, Director of the HAPTIC DESIGN PROJECT, Graduate School of Media Design, Keio University
By interacting with each other, we understand each other and deepen our intimacy. The original project, "HAPTICS OF WONDER 12 Touchable αGEL Sample Book," is a materials kit that allows users to enjoy the experience of touch by taking advantage of the appeal of αGEL as a soft material and recreating a variety of textures by changing the composition of the ingredients. We developed this product in collaboration with Taica in 2019, imagining a future in which our daily lives will be enriched by a variety of textures.
After three years of wanting to get in touch but not being able to, we are now feeling anew the importance of contact. Come and think about the nature of Ogasawara while touching the "Touchable Ogasawara," which was born from an encounter with the charm of Ogasawara's nature.
CCCMK Holdings' group mission is "UNIQUE DATA, SMALL HAPPY." We aim to create a sustainable and better society by refining unique data into valuable information and working together to solve various social issues.
The Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau was established within the Tokyo Islands Tourism Federation on the mainland with funding from Ogasawara Village, with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of tourism in Ogasawara through media relations, event planning, etc., while maintaining existing ties with travel agencies. We will utilize the mobility of being located on the mainland to carry out sales and PR activities for Ogasawara.

■Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau "Ogasawara Ambassador Program"
The Ogasawara Ambassador Program is a program that provides special experiences such as limited-time events and trial tours to people who will spread the appeal of Ogasawara together with the Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau. By having the Ogasawara Village Tourism Bureau back up the thoughts and ideas of the individual ambassadors, it is possible to involve organizations such as companies and related parties, making it possible to achieve goals and developments that would not be possible for individuals to set on their own. We are also working on a "co-creation" project that utilizes the Ogasawara Islands and their attractions as a catalyst and subject.
