Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, is located in the northern part of the Hamadori (coastal) region of Fukushima Prefecture. Surrounded by the sea, mountains, and rivers, it boasts abundant nature and is famous for its local specialties such as Ohori Soma-yaki and Namie Yakisoba. Due to the evacuation order following the accident at the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant on March 11, 2011, the number of residents temporarily dropped to zero, but since the partial lifting of the evacuation order in March 2017, residents have been gradually returning, and currently there are approximately 2,000 residents.
■What is the coworking space "Namie Shinka"?
Namie Shinka is a members-only coworking space that opened in October 2010. This highly designed and highly adaptable space was designed by Kengo Kuma, and members can use the space and participate in programs according to their purpose, all free of charge.
■What is the business support program "Symme Program"?
The "Symme Program" consists of two programs: the "Sprout Program," which supports the growth of entrepreneurship and new businesses in Namie Town, and the "Startup Program," which supports the creation and growth of startups.
Since April 2011, CCC has been commissioned by Sumitomo Corporation to operate the coworking space "Namie Shinka" and part of the "Sprout Program."Through Namie Shinka, we will provide programs that will help support evolution, from starting a business in Namie Town and supporting new business development to business co-creation that transcends the boundaries between people taking on challenges. We will also work together to create a community where diverse people connected to Namie Town can come together and collaborate and deepen their efforts to tackle a variety of themes and challenges.
■ About the "Sprout Program (Support for Entrepreneurship, New Business Development, and Market Development)"
For entrepreneurs and local businesses, the CCC Group will utilize its big data and group resources from the approximately 130 million T-members (valid IDs) it holds to provide mentoring-style product development support and promote the appeal of Namie Town through pop-up shops selling local specialties in stores such as TSUTAYA and Tsutaya Bookstore, and provide support for product sales channels. Furthermore, in July 2011, we opened an "Online Entrepreneurship Consultation Desk" and began offering free consultation services to help aspiring entrepreneurs with business plans and problem-solving. We have also launched a "New Business Development Support Menu," and have selected two companies to support us, with mentoring starting in October.
Through Namie Shinka, the CCC Group aims to support various businesses in Namie Town, foster exchanges, and revitalize the town.
Starting this fiscal year, the CCC Group has been promoting initiatives aimed at regional revitalization and local vitalization by utilizing the intellectual capital that the CCC Group possesses. This initiative in Namie Town will utilize the CCC Group's resources, particularly its intellectual capital, to combine "platform," "data," and "consulting." By leveraging the CCC Group's unique perspective, the Group will work together with Sumitomo Corporation to support people who are aiming to start or create businesses locally, thereby revitalizing Namie Town.
