-China's first four-floor, street-level TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE-

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CCC) and its subsidiary Tsutaya Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have signed a franchise agreement with Wuhan City Fengfang Asset Management Group and will open the first TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE in Wuhan, China, "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road Store" on Saturday, December 16, 2023.  

The TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road Store will be located in Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, a famous shopping district in Wuhan, the only megacity in central China, and the longest pedestrian street in China with a history of over 100 years.

The TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road Store is the first street-level store in China, and with four floors above ground, it is the largest TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE in China. The store aims to become an oasis on Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, offering a cozy BOOK & CAFE-style space and products and suggestions that are only available at TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE, providing relaxation and inspiration to Wuhan customers, and a space filled with lifestyle suggestions that will help customers enjoy a better life.

TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE will continue to inspire the creativity of people in Japan and China, and aim to become a special place loved by many by offering new reading styles and exciting experiences.

Features of "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road Store"

1) Our first street-level store. China's largest TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE
The TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road store is the first TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE in China to be a four-story, street-level store.

The store has a selection of approximately 40,000 books in Chinese, Japanese, and foreign languages, as well as a cafe with approximately 130 seats, making it the largest TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE in China. On the terrace seating on the second floor, you can enjoy a variety of drinks, including our signature lattes made with coffee and tea, with a book or magazine in hand while looking out over Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street.

In the "BOOK & CAFE" space, which is designed with a focus on comfort, we offer a selection of books and miscellaneous goods that match the concept of each floor, providing an experience that is unique to TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE.

2) The 4th floor is the art floor. Big Books and Japanese crafts
The 4th floor of "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuhan Jianghan Road Store" is a floor specializing in art proposals. There is also the "BIG BOOK," an art piece that takes the form of a book but completely overturns the concept of it, weighing in at 40kg. We have a wide range of products, including architecture and cars. It has an overwhelming presence and weighs a whopping 40kg. In addition to being able to see the BIG BOOK on architecture and cars, there are also many crafts that highlight Japanese handicrafts. Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, which has a history of over 100 years, boasts a streetscape that blends tradition and modernity, and TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE will offer art that is unique to the discerning customers who gather at Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street.

3) Stationery and miscellaneous goods that give you a taste of Japan
We carry a wide range of items to enrich your daily life, with a focus on stationery and miscellaneous goods imported from Japan. The fashion accessories area on the second floor will feature scarves and bags that will add a touch of glamour to your outfit, as well as fragrances that you can wear to add a touch of style to your everyday outfits.  

Other items on offer include a flower vase created in collaboration with the cat-themed Wuhan goods brand Meow You Type, and bags from Tomorrow Fabric, made with Nishijin weaving, a traditional Japanese textile that has been passed down for over 1,000 years. These items will add a touch of fun to your daily life.

4) Kids area for parents and children to enjoy together
The KIDS area is a space where parents and children can have fun together, with children's books categorized by target age, products that can be used as gifts, a corner with educational toys that can be used and tried out, a KIDS space where children can read picture books, and even a corner for home education where parents can read to them.
After the opening, we also plan to hold events such as picture book readings.

5) Proposing Japanese IP culture 
We will be presenting books and miscellaneous goods from various angles, such as "manga" culture as a contemporary culture, new and old Japanese art, and learning about Japanese culture from history, to present Japanese culture.
As part of its promotion of Japanese culture, the store has set up the largest corner of Japanese IP products among all TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE stores in China. We stock a wide range of popular Japanese manga, merchandise, and illustration collections by artists.
