-The SHIBUYA TSUTAYA logo has also been revamped-
"A company that creates cultural infrastructure. "SHIBUYA TSUTAYA" (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), operated by Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and COO: Takahashi Yoshinori; hereinafter referred to as "CCC"), whose mission is to "create a world with the things you love."It will be reopened on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with the theme "A new era in the art of Japanese culture."
The SHIBUYA TSUTAYA logo will be revamped to coincide with the new store located in a prime location in Shibuya, a world-famous tourist destination visited by many tourists from both Japan and overseas.
This logo represents the creation of a new, unprecedented "cultural infrastructure" that will propose lifestyles through experiences such as content and events that can captivate everyone, 365 days a year, regardless of nationality or generation, using IP* from around the world.
In addition to the light and airy original font, the icon, which resembles a blank canvas with the "T" motif, the initial letter of TSUTAYA, will serve as a symbol for future collaborations with various IPs. The new SHIBUYA TSUTAYA logo was designed by designer Kenya Hara (President and CEO of Nippon Design Center), who was also involved in the overall design direction of the Tsutaya Bookstore logo.
*IP (Intellectual Property) refers to intellectual property created by humans, such as original, novel, and creative ideas, creations, inventions, technology, designs, and know-how.
"SHIBUYA TSUTAYA" Floor Overview
The three floors of SHIBUYA TSUTAYA - the first floor, basement 1 and basement 2 - will be dedicated to the "Floor for Creating Love with IP from Around the World," where they will collaborate with a variety of IP from around the world, from entertainment such as animation and music to high-end brands, and will feature limited-time pop-up stores and events where customers can experience the IP brands in a real-life setting.
The second, third, and fourth floors are designated as "Inspiring Cafe & Lounge," and will provide a space where individuals can take the initiative in their activities, in an environment where they can gain new insights and discoveries in line with the coming "era of the individual."Additionally, we will provide a cafe and lounge space with approximately 500 seats throughout the building in a prime location in Shibuya, a world-famous tourist destination.
The fifth, sixth, and seventh floors will be the "Floor for Connecting Through Experiences You Can Only Find Here," and will feature a lounge, bookstore, and cafe where fans of Japan's leading IP content can connect with each other through experiences and things that can only be found at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA. The 8th floor will be a studio with event streaming capabilities linked to each floor, and the rooftop will be an outdoor event space.
