TSUTAYA began selling trading cards (hereinafter referred to as "trading cards") in earnest in 2018. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, trading cards have become a popular game allowing face-to-face gameplay, enjoyed by a wide range of customers regardless of age or gender, beyond children and younger generations. Currently, TSUTAYA operates trading card sales areas with play spaces in 178 stores nationwide (as of February 2024), and plans to continue expanding the number of stores equipped with play spaces.

In addition, in December 2023, TSUTAYA's first trading card specialty store, "TSUTAYA Trading Card Kinshicho," opened as a space to foster local community. As of February 2024, over 3,000 customers have visited the store, receiving positive acclaim. The company opened "TSUTAYA Trading Card Kitasenju" to further revitalize the community through trading cards.

TSUTAYA will continue to offer opportunities for community creation through "experiences" with a variety of items and events, including trading cards.
