Culture Experience Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinichiro Kamaura; hereinafter referred to as "CX") and Shikoku Kiosk Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture; President and CEO: Takahiro Terakawa; hereinafter referred to as "Shikoku Kiosk") have opened "TSUTAYA BOOSKTORE TAKAMATSU ORNE" on the third floor of the north building of the commercial facility "TAKAMATSU ORNE," which opened on Friday, March 22, 2024.
The concept of "TSUTAYA BOOSKTORE TAKAMATSU ORNE" is "The gateway you'll want to visit most in Shikoku - an extraordinary space next to your everyday life."Takamatsu City, the capital of Kagawa Prefecture, is experiencing a rise in inbound tourism demand as its image as an "artist" has spread not only within Japan but also around the world, with events such as the Setouchi Triennale taking place there. Located within TAKAMATSU ORNE, a commercial facility directly connected to JR Takamatsu Station, which serves as the gateway to the area, we aim to create a store where art can be felt up close.
"TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE TAKAMATSU ORNE" has approximately 30,000 books and magazines. For workers passing through Takamatsu Station, the business center of Kagawa Prefecture, we recommend business books ranging from long-selling classics to the latest releases that will inspire you to think about business trends and your future life plans. We also carry food-related books, such as recipe books by popular chefs and best-selling home cooking books, as well as children's books that will foster your child's curiosity.
Stationery items include writing implements inspired by business situations and food items carefully selected by lifestyle shop "AKOMEYA" to brighten up your everyday dining table. We offer high-quality products that can be given as gifts. Additionally, lifestyle brand "LAKOLE" will be opening its first store in Shikoku, and will stock a selection of household goods.
In the permanent pop-up space, various fairs will be held based on the concept of "discovering things that can only be found here" and "discovering the unknown charms of the region."The first event will be a Taiwan Fair to express our gratitude for your continued patronage of the Takamatsu-Taipei Line, which connects Kagawa Prefecture and Taiwan. Additionally, through the "Setonaikai National Park 90th Anniversary Fair," we will promote the attractions of Setonaikai National Park to local residents.
We will continue to hold various art-related events, changing them from time to time. We will be exhibiting works and merchandise by artists with ties to the Setouchi area, as well as selling miscellaneous goods and books for art lovers, and products that will help you feel closer to art. We welcome customers with an exciting selection of products that will add color to their daily lives.
We will also be opening the first "SHARE LOUNGE" in the Chugoku-Shikoku area. The SHARE LOUNGE has a total of 125 seats and offers a variety of seating options, including window seats with an open feel and pleasant sunlight streaming in, sofa seats and booth seats where multiple people can enjoy drinks and food, and workspace seats that can be used alone for private time such as working, studying or reading.
The SHARE LOUNGE is available for drop-ins starting from as little as 60 minutes, so anyone can use it immediately when they have free time. Reservations can be easily made via the app, and the space can be used not only as a workspace where you can concentrate, but also as a cafe and bar, allowing you to freely enjoy it as a place to relax while shopping or after work.
There will also be a limited-time event where you can experience the charms of Shikoku by dipping Yamashita Oiri Honpo's "Oiri" in soft serve ice cream, as well as a live painting event and artwork exhibition by calligraphy artist Go Sho and painter Matsuyama Mari, both from Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. In addition, we offer a student discount (600 yen/hour) to make it easier for students living in the surrounding area to use our services.
As a part of the local community, TSUTAYA BOOSKTORE TAKAMATSU ORNE will hold events where local residents play a leading role, contributing to regional revitalization and development, and aiming to become "the gateway that people most want to visit in Shikoku."
