Sales Ranking
In the book category, the top spot went to "Naruse is Going to Take Over the World" by Miyajima Mina, which won this year's Bookstore Award and became the first in history to win three awards at the 20th R-18 Literature Award for Women by Women, a new writer's award sponsored by Shinchosha. In the comics category, "Jujutsu Kaisen" took the top spot for the third consecutive year, with the top rankings dominated by hit films.
In the DVD/Blu-ray category, the smash hit "The First Slam Dunk," which grossed over 16 billion yen at the box office, took first place, marking the first time in several years that a theatrical film has topped the list, beating out a live music production. In addition, Snow Man took first place in the CD category for the third consecutive year, and from the K-POP category, SEVENTEEN had two albums ranked, demonstrating their enduring popularity.
In the video game category, "Dragon Quest 3: And Into the Legend...," released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, received overwhelming support and took the top spot. Now that it has been remade into a new "HD-2D version," it can be said that this work has not only attracted long-time fans but has also created new Dragon Quest fans.

Rental Ranking
In video, the movie "THE FIRST SLAM DUNK" came in first place, just as it did for DVD/Blu-ray sales. Next in the rankings were the smash hit series "Kingdom: The Flame of Fate," a live-action film adaptation of a popular comic, and the film version of the TV drama "Hyouka," making Japanese films the top three.
In music, YOASOBI's "THE BOOK 3," which includes the hit song "Idol," took first place. While popular artists such as Official Hige Dandism, Kenshi Yonezu, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, and Ado dominated the top spots, it was a year in which few new artists emerged. In terms of music singles, Creepy Nuts' global hit "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" took the impressive number one spot.
In the comics category, "Kaiju No. 8," which was made into an anime in April this year and became a huge hit, took the top spot. It has also been announced that the second season of the anime will be broadcast in 2025, and a movie that will be a compilation of the first season will be released, so we can expect even more excitement.
