A fusion of classical architecture and modern sales floors
The concept of "TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Wuxi Huishan Yingyueli Branch" is "Cultural Journey."As the first TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE to open in a national 5A-level tourist destination in China (※), it skillfully combines the Jiangnan water town, a water city that retains its ancient streetscape, with the characteristics of modern commerce. The store is located on the site of a Qing Dynasty ancestral hall, and while it retains its historical culture, it also features a cafe and a sales area for books, stationery and miscellaneous goods, giving the classical architecture a new function.
The store has approximately 35,000 books and 57,000 stationery and miscellaneous goods on display. In addition, the cafe area, with approximately 80 seats inside the store and 20 seats outside, offers a comfortable "BOOK & CAFE" space.

A beautiful and comfortable space with the theme of "light" and "greenery"
The main building, which is in the style of a traditional Jiangnan house, has been remodeled into a space with an entirely different function as an ancestral hall, and while retaining the classical architectural structure, a glass roof has been added to the outdoor garden. This breaks away from the traditional spatial structure of "room-garden-room" and unifies the entire sales floor, allowing customers to move smoothly through the store. You can also enjoy the changing appearance of the building due to the natural light shining through the glass roof, along with the beauty of the landscape plants in the garden.
The store's fixtures have been carefully selected to be different in design, color and material to harmonize with the forms and characteristics of both the old and new buildings. Each area of the store is fitted with lighting fixtures that suit its own unique atmosphere, and the intricate design and soft lighting accentuate the store's distinctive classic and elegant atmosphere. One particular feature that stands out is the round paper pendant lights hanging from the ceiling. Combining lights of different sizes brings harmony to the space, which has varying ceiling heights. The shape of the light resembles the moon, which also echoes the place name "Eigetsu-ri" that is unique to Eizan.
A wide selection of books and a playful sales floor
The books in the store cover a variety of subjects, including literature, art, design, humanities, and lifestyle. Rather than being bound by traditional language classification methods, we offer customers a variety of choices by arranging Chinese, Japanese, and English books together according to the theme of each shelf. Among the extensive lineup, we would like to draw your attention to the many sets that come with exclusive bonuses that can only be purchased at TSUTAYA Bookstores in China. The set includes a selection of carefully selected works and related goods, such as Harada Osamu's design book and a picture book themed on "Heidi, Girl of the Alps," allowing you to enjoy the works even more deeply.
